We all assumed that Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. getting that later timeslot meant Marvel would be going a bit darker/racier, and that was confirmed by this past Tuesday's season 4 premiere, which featured more blood and skin that we were used to seeing on the show up to that point.

This promo contains a few new shots of Quake's upcoming rematch with Ghost Rider, along with the promise that things are going to be getting even "grittier and sexier" as the season progresses. Is that a good thing in your opinion, or were you happy enough with the PG-13-level content?

Meet the New Boss” – Daisy goes to battle Ghost Rider at a terrible cost, and Coulson faces the new Director, and his bold agenda surprises them all, on “Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.,” TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 27 (10:00-11:00 p.m. EDT), on the ABC Television Network.

It smacks of desperation a bit.. and I say that as a fan of the show. I guess the showrunners don't have control over the marketing though at the end of the day.

@RorMachine - Oh, it's 100% the higher-ups wanting to desperately appeal to the Netflix watchers.

@MattBellissimo - yes! all the violence junkies praised the Netflix stuff so much that the execs concluded that only blood and titties matter. I loved the show how it was. I am holding out hope the things like ploy, character development and good stories that take time to develop will not be buried under gore and ass shots.

@RorMachine - To be fair all of ABC's Marvel promos are trash, whoever is in charge of them should get canned because they never reflect the actual show and they always come off really cheesy.

ABC can't market this show right at all.

If you want to be taken more seriously, change that stupid intro/theme music and get Sean Callery to score the show.

so basically they went darker and more Netflixier because that's what the (tv) audience want. i can live with that. i'm interested in GR so i might even check some episodes of this season. still i finished on episode 7 or 8 of season 1 and only returned once for season finale (Dalton betraying everyone episode - overhyped)

@jerryblake - The Ward betrayal was Episode 15, and that's an unfair assessment if you weren't watching the show at the time. Everyone was convinced Simmons was the Hydra agent. Ward was a real shock. Also the finale was weak. Season 2 though... watch the premiere for that on Netflix. Leaps and bounds over Season 1
