There are only two episodes left of the first season of Marvel's Cloak and Dagger, and yet we already have an indication of where the Freeform series' sophomore season is heading thanks to some art that was released at San Diego Comic-Con which teases the introduction of Mayhem.

Detective Brigid O'Reilly, played by Emma Lahana, becomes the fan-favorite vigilante/anti-hero Mayhem in the comics after being reborn with powers that include secreting toxic green gas and growing sharp talon-like fingernails. After O'Reilly made a shocking and tragic discovery at the end of last week's episode 7, it seemed clear that she is on a path towards this transformation.

At SDCC, showrunner Joe Pokaski provided some insight into his plans for introducing Mayhem, discussing the build-up they have woven into the show for O'Reilly. Pokaski revealed that Mayhem is something they have been excited about bringing to the show since the initial stages of development for Cloak and Dagger:

We got very excited, the writers and I, when we were breaking the first season because we knew who Mayhem was and we knew Brigid began as a friend. It was very exciting as writers to say, low key, we can start telling you words and story of a villain in the most ninja way possible. So it's just been fun. And then add on top of that, you have an actress like Emma Lahana. Because we could have cast someone average or just good. She has done two episodes of our show where she hasn't said a word and she's crushed it. I don't know if you have seen episode nine yet, doesn't say a word again, makes you want to cry. So I'm very excited, kind of in a Killmonger way, to bring in a villain who you can relate with. I think Mayhem, without spoiling too much, is kind of what we wish we all were if we didn't face consequences.

Pokaski has previously confirmed that there will be a post-credits scene in the finale, so it is possible that we may get our first glimpses of O'Reilly transforming into Mayhem by the end of the season. Fans will just have to stay tuned to learn what state her quest to bring dirty cop Connors to justice leaves O'Reilly in.

The series has been picking up and showing small hints or links of villains to come for the next season. Kinda like this origin story approach they've been doing with season 1.

@ChangAlang - it's a solid show. Like an 8/10. I'd say check it out but dont prioritize it over anything better.

@HeavyMetal4Life - Thanks mate!

I attempted The Expanse but it was late and I was too tired to focus.
