Daredevil: Born Again is being overhauled by Marvel Studios, and a very exciting rumour is doing the rounds today which claims a big MCU cameo was being planned. Find out who was set to appear here...

Marvel Studios has decided to go back to the drawing board with Daredevil: Born Again after concluding that it wasn't working in its current form. Several episodes had been shot, and while some footage will remain, it's thought the series will look drastically different when it eventually arrives on Disney+.

Dario Scardapane (The Punisher) was recently tapped as showrunner (marking the first time Marvel Studios has hired one to take charge of a TV show), while Loki and Moon Knight directors Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead are set to helm the remaining episodes.

Rumour has it White Tiger was going to play a prominent role in Daredevil: Born Again, while we know The Punisher and Jessica Jones were among the other Marvel characters being lined up to make appearances.

Now, though, it's we're hearing that original plans called for Sebastian Stan's Bucky Barnes/The Winter Soldier to be part of the TV-MA series!

"Bucky Barnes was planned to appear in 'Daredevil: Born Again,'" claims Caiden Reed, adding it's currently "unclear if it is still the plan."

In The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, Bucky found redemption for his past actions and finally moved on from his time as a HYDRA assassin. That doesn't necessarily mean he's going to be able to avoid legal action taken against him, of course, so perhaps Matt Murdock was set to defend him in the courtroom?

Regardless, as many fans have pointed out on social media, a hand-to-hand fight between Daredevil and Bucky would be nothing short of awesome. Whether Bucky makes it into the next version of Daredevil: Born Again remains to be seen.

It was last month when we learned the show had been scrapped in its current form, with Head Writers Chris Ord and Matt Corman fired along with the directors attached to the remaining episodes.

Ord and Corman, who came up with a legal procedural which wouldn't have shown Matt Murdock suiting up until nearly the halfway point of season 1, will still receive executive producer credits. However, much of what was shot will now be locked inside Marvel Studios to never see the light of day.

Who do you think would win if the MCU's Daredevil and Bucky squared off?

Just adapted the comic book story arc properly and you'll have one of the best Comic book movies of all time.

marvel72 - 11/16/2023, 2:04 PM
@Nomis929 - The best Daredevil story and of the best comic book stories ever.
Apophis71 - 11/16/2023, 2:06 PM
@Nomis929 - By the sound of it they may have gone too heavy into direct from the page in some aspects with the full Trial of the Century story requiring too much coutroom stuff and not enough action (whilst setting up a legacy White Tiger at the same time or soon after). We'll see where it all lands but I tend not to worry about them making huge changes mid-production if the result turns out well, see it more a net positive if anything that they recognise issues and fix them whilst still time to fully address properly rather than butcher and bodge in post or release poor content.

Anyway cameos an be cool if they serve a purpose or very minimal to the point of no neative impact to pacing and story but can be irksome if over done or feel forced. The amount of episodes this has allows ample room for the odd big sreen character to have a cameo without it being a net negative.
Nomis929 - 11/16/2023, 2:12 PM
@marvel72 - You won't get an argument out of me on that.

However... I could see how someone could make a case for 'Elektra saga', 'Guardian Devil', or 'The Man Without Fear',
garu - 11/16/2023, 1:50 PM
cameos are only useful if they make sense in the story like NWH, even if I'm not the biggest fan of the story in that movie, the cameos made a lot of narrative sense

not a fan of cameos being shoehorned in without narrative purpose to make the roblox squad get excited
Gabimaru - 11/16/2023, 1:57 PM
@garu - You're so right. mordock was there because it makes sense in the story at the same time announcing to fans that netflix daredevil is now in MCU. Nowadays they do these surprised cameos just because they can. thinking everyone's gonna go crazy for it. Yeah I'm looking at you valkyrie.
thewanderer - 11/16/2023, 3:08 PM
@Gabimaru - disagree. I think the Valkyrie cameo was exactly how they should be done as it fit the narrative. Carol needed a place to re-home the Skrulls and Valkyrie runs a city full of refugees.

It was short and sweet scene that pushed the story forward. Exactly the way it should be.
garu - 11/16/2023, 4:15 PM
@thewanderer - it was shit.
AvalonX - 11/16/2023, 4:32 PM
@thewanderer - ""Pairing Carol with Valkyrie and having them share the big screen was another bucket list item. Fans really shipped them and their friendship, and as a huge nerd myself, I was dying to see that relationship on the big screen. Nia DaCosta is quite close with Tessa Thompson, so we had to write in a cameo. She's such an empathetic, wonderful character. When we were trying to figure out exactly how to help the Skrulls after the events that take place on Tarnax, we were excited at the idea that Valkyrie could help in this novel way."

You mean this garbage? Its commone knowledge they cut this movie down but they all but admitted the implication is they are totally gay for each other.
thewanderer - 11/16/2023, 4:57 PM
@AvalonX - yet, it wasn’t garbage.

It was a short 2-3 minute scene that fit the narrative of the story.
Gabimaru - 11/16/2023, 8:45 PM
@thewanderer - it just created a plothole for the show secret invasion. And how the hell valkyrie can use the bifrost? I'll never know, just because MCU can and doesn't care.
thewanderer - 11/16/2023, 9:19 PM
@Gabimaru - plot hole how?

AvalonX - 11/16/2023, 11:12 PM
@thewanderer - Agree to disagree. The scene was cut down, thats why they left the cheek kiss in.

Also, wasn't she searching the galaxy for a home for the Skrulls? Wasn't that the entire point of Secret Invasion? Boy, its a shame Valkyrie wasn't on Earth the entire time and in obvious communication Carol who is so close to Fury. Man, they could have avoided that entire series. Oh wait...

Even when you guys defend this crap, it unreal how forgiving you are. Its garbage because it makes the entire Skrull finding a home thing pointless. This is the problem in the MCU before they started putting scenes like this in for an agenda instead of the plot demanding it. The Director said it herself but you still dont want to believe it.

They are gay for each other. Thats why its there. Thats why she kisses her. Why not on the lips? Because then they cant show it overseas. They are frauds.
thewanderer - 11/16/2023, 11:44 PM
@AvalonX - lol this post is pathetic on so many levels. If you’ve paid attention to the MCU at all, which it’s clear you haven’t, there are multiple different factions of Skrulls.
CerealKiller1 - 11/16/2023, 1:55 PM
Convenient how this stuff is always revealed after the ‘scooper’ is given a back door out of their claim
LSHF - 11/16/2023, 4:40 PM
@CerealKiller1 - Yep, this site survives off of clickbait. If it wasn't for clickbait, it would probably fail.

I come here for the comments (rarely read the articles).
slickrickdesigns - 11/16/2023, 1:56 PM
Where’s the Spider-Man cameo we were promised by the youtube theorists!?
garu - 11/16/2023, 2:03 PM
@slickrickdesigns - t'was mephisto all along
MotherGooseUPus - 11/16/2023, 1:58 PM
Really curious how bucky would fit the story... even if he's not in it now, still the show/movie I'm looking forward to the most
IronDean2099 - 11/16/2023, 2:43 PM
@MotherGooseUPus - I'd actually love an episode where they deal with the legal ramifications of being revived or reintegrated into society after 70 years. Or how does the law handle all the brainwashed murders he did? Could be really interesting. Like a more serious version of Mr Immortal in She Hulk.
DENNISsystem - 11/16/2023, 4:16 PM
@IronDean2099 - most of those murders were black book murders that can’t be proven, but I can see them going the way of Al Capone and getting him for Tax Evasion. I would love them showing that.
GhostDog - 11/16/2023, 2:01 PM
This sounds like it could be made up by the scooper

However, I could only see him fitting as part of some case that Matt picks up that ties into Bucky’s past as a Hydra assassin. Maybe a killing or some kind of op he pulled off has ties to some current case Matt is working. Bucky and him collide as Bucky is maybe doing an assessment of his past sins and reconciling. If it was case of the week stuff, that would make sense.
BritishMonkey - 11/16/2023, 2:02 PM
Spider-Man it should be.
Scarilian - 11/16/2023, 2:19 PM
Does it matter? That version no longer exists, thrown into the bin because it was absolute [frick]ing garbage. Any appearance of characters that were meant to show up in that series were going to be ruined.
thewanderer - 11/16/2023, 3:09 PM
@Scarilian - they aren’t scrapping all of the footage from what we were told.
BlackStar25 - 11/16/2023, 2:26 PM
Honestly...Id be cool with Bucky living his days in Wakanda as White Wolf.

hue66 - 11/16/2023, 2:29 PM
To me Bucky has been one of the best continued stories of the MCU. Great character and I know FATWS wasn't to everyones liking but one of my favorite series. More Bucky is a good thing. Never seen him interact with Daredevil in a comic so that would be different
bkmeijer1 - 11/16/2023, 2:39 PM
@hue66 - I agree, kinda. It does feel like most of his most important character moments actually happened off-screen
Batmangina - 11/16/2023, 2:35 PM
If you would have told me in 1980 that someday Bucky Barnes would be one of the best realizations of a comic book character in live action movies in the history of genre fiction, I would have called you a liar.

If you would have told me in 1980 that a feature film centered around the then Ms. Marvel rebranded as Captain Marvel and two other female super heroes who's books sell like turds dipped in AIDS would be the biggest failure in comic book movies, I would have said...DUH.

...and yet, here we are.

Life is strange.
Apophis71 - 11/16/2023, 3:32 PM
@Batmangina - TBF Bucky had only been a teen army kid and had died at the end of WWII if memory serves and by the 80's had long only appeared in flashbacks or tweaked reprints of original Timely comics to retcon in order to establish new canon for about 20yrs (think it was a comic in the mid 60's he died in). You were either reading very old comics if you knew he existed in the 80's or thinking of Jack Monroe or Rick Jones not Barnes. Took till 2005 till he was revived as the Winter Soldier and never once had any form of Super Soldier serum in print so...

...also Danvers was everywhere and a huge central part of numerous major Xmen stories in the 80's after having been a regular in the Avengers for the latter part of the 70's till the end of 1980 plus also then when Monica Rambeau was intro'd and spent most the 80's as a member of the Avengers, ultimately becoming the team's leader, so unsure that second bit carries much weight and a tad revisionist history.
Batmangina - 11/16/2023, 10:10 PM
@Apophis71 - actually Bucky, Gwen Stacy and Uncle Ben were the 'Stay Dead' characters for decades. Brubaker's Winter Soldier actually brought Bucky back and was [frick]ing amazing.

Then the MCU actually did the comic run justice - hence my comment. Bucky was DEAD when I was a kid and the idea of what happened with him would have seemed impossible.

Carol Danvers was always an extra. A C-Lister whose claim to fame was that Rogue stole her powers.

The Avengers runs were decent - but those noteworthy exceptions you mention bear little resemblance to the MCU version and the Brie version has literally nothing to do with her X-Men ties until the last second fan service of Kelsey Grammar being dropped in.

The movie is a massive failure by any measure.
Apophis71 - 11/17/2023, 7:51 AM
@Batmangina - Don't disagree with Bucky anyone who knew anything about him in the comics in the 80's never had him being brought back to life at all in print in the comics on their bingo card let alone any form of memorable live action adaption.

Also not debating quality or success of the current Marvel's movie or that in 1980 to be blunt few if any expected Marvel to have a hit film at all and if they did it would have been Spiderman, maybe Xmen and that is it and were low expectations for CBM's period. Others many may at that time wanted adapted but doubt epectations of being a hit would be high as expetation of ANY CBM doing well was low outside of Superman and maybe Batman (tho even that was still folk thinking Adam West in live action mostly and prior to the Burton Bat).

However with a few years of Charlies Angels on TV by 1980 a format of the three CB females with a male boss having an action adventure with the costumes they had in the comics at that time...

...in the 80's I could have seen that being a hit, just wouldn't have been anythin like almost any CBM's of the last decade or two and deffo not like this specific female centric film. Danvers with her Air Force officer bacground, powers and her whole egalitarian thing would be well placed at that specific time to be chosen regardless if classed as C list to my mind. It would have fitted that specific era well for loose adaption regardless comparitive comic sales, but again wouldn't have been anything like this film if made in the 80's.
bkmeijer1 - 11/16/2023, 2:42 PM
Not a fan of too many cameos in this. It could work with a trail of the week set-up, but I rather just see it be a Daredevil/Matt Murdock story.

If they're having other heroes show up, I only wanna see Spider-Man, She-Hulk, Jessica Jones, Punisher and maybe Black Widow.
Timerider - 11/16/2023, 5:30 PM
@bkmeijer1 - Black Widow? She’s dead, but her sister, that’s a possibility.
bkmeijer1 - 11/17/2023, 2:00 AM
@Timerider - I meant the Yelena Black Widow. I know where not getting Natasha, but I think it could work just as well with Yelena
KelvTwelve - 11/16/2023, 3:16 PM
I wouldn't have been into this cameo but it would've made my girlfriend very... excited.
CaptainCheese - 11/16/2023, 3:52 PM
[frick] it. Let's just throw in everything that wasn't in the Born Again comic run. Who cares now?
ATrueHero1987 - 11/16/2023, 4:37 PM
I need that Daredevil Vs. Winter Soldier in live action.
MartianManHuntr - 11/16/2023, 4:52 PM
cadunovaes01 - 11/16/2023, 4:56 PM
The cameo I was hoping to see here: Spider-Man
