DAREDEVIL: BORN AGAIN Star Charlie Cox Will Spend All Of 2023 Shooting The Series And Teases Darker Tone

Daredevil: Born Again star Charlie Cox has revealed he will spend all of 2023 shooting the series, while addressing his MCU return and hopes that the Disney+ series will remain relatively dark in tone...

Charlie Cox made his MCU debut as Matt Murdock in Spider-Man: No Way Home before once again suiting up as Daredevil in She-Hulk: Attorney at Law. Next up for the actor is another cameo appearance in Echo (that's the rumour, anyway) and Disney+'s eighteen-episode Daredevil: Born Again.

During a recent interview with NME, the actor said he "was over the moon" to get the call from Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige, but plans for a follow-up to Daredevil weren't in place from the start.

One is heading our way in 2024, though, and Cox is keen to put a fresh spin on the Man Without Fear. "This has to be a reincarnation, it has to be different, otherwise why are we doing it?" he says.

"My opinion is this character works best when he’s geared towards a slightly more mature audience. My instinct is that on Disney+ it will be dark but it probably won’t be as gory." As for those of you hoping this will be Daredevil season 4, Cox adds: "I would say to those people, we’ve done that. Let’s take the things that really worked, but can we broaden?"

"Can we appeal to a slightly younger audience without losing what we’ve learned about what works?"

What that will look like remains to be seen, but Daredevil: Born Again will take up most of Cox's year. "They said to me, ‘We’re going to be shooting in 2023.' I said, ‘Great, when?’ They said, ‘All 2023’. I start shooting in February and finish in December." Aside from knowing they'll be based in New York City, the actor has little to share about what's to come at this point.

"I’m fascinated to discover why they’ve chosen to do 18," he adds. "I’m imagining there’s going to be an element to it that is like the old-school procedural show. Not necessarily case-of-the-week, but something where we go really deep into Matt Murdock the lawyer and get to see what his life is like."

"If that’s done right and he really gets his hands dirty with that world...I think there’s something quite interesting about that, to spend a lot of time in a superhero’s day-to-day life and you really earn the moments when he suits up."

We don't anticipate any sort of first look at Daredevil: Born Again until next year's Comic-Con at the soonest, though we have a feeling set photos will eventually offer a sneak peek at the series! Cox is clearly committed to playing a new Daredevil for the MCU, and if recent rumours are to be believed, he'll head straight from Born Again into Spider-Man 4.

Daredevil: Born Again premieres on Disney+ in 2024.

The Better Call Saul lead writer should have been on this show, not Echo lol. 18 episodes could be good if they release 2 or 3 a week, that would be interesting

@bobevanz - * if they're an hour long, or else why bother other than to lock in subs for 3.5 months lol

"Reincarnation?" That sounds to me like they arent going to go continue the Jeff Loeb Netflix canon which I certainly applaud!

@krayzeman - yeah, let's get it away from that good stuff and make it more like an NBC procedural (which is what the writers are most known for FYI). That's certainly worth applauding. /s
