Before this year's San Diego Comic-Con, we learned that Jon Bernthal (The Walking Dead) will play The Punisher in season two of Daredevil, while Elodie Yung (G.I. Joe: Retaliation) will also be joining the cast as Elektra. Talking to IGN during the annual event, Marvel Chief Creative Officer Joe Quesada had this to say about how exactly the show will go about balancing the screen time between all of these characters. "That’s why we pay our amazing Writers Room the big bucks. Doug Petrie and Mark Ramirez, the co-showrunners, have concocted an amazing series, an amazing season this year and believe me, sparks will fly and it’s going to be pretty phenomenal."

As for the decision to cast Bernthal as the vigilante who the Man Without Fear will square off against in season two, Quesada added: "We’re so happy to have Jon Bernthal because we have such a world-class cast on Daredevil; we have a world-class actor in Charlie Cox that we want to make sure we chose and were able to attain an actor who is on that same level so I think the combination of seeing Charlie and John perform those parts on the same screen. It’s going to be epic, absolutely epic." Yung meanwhile will also be making her presence felt, and the CCO had nothing but good things to say about her. "[We] scoured the world for the right Elektra and, man, she is the character. She looks like the character, she walks like the character, and then she has the martial arts training and stunt background that she can rely on. It’s going to be really, really awesome to see her take over the role and see how she embodies and how she personifies Elektra." Which of these characters are you most looking forward to seeing in Daredevil?

Whenever I hear Joe Quesada talk anything MCU related, my first thoughts are always "why the [frick] does Feige tell things to this hack?"

With Elektra and the Punisher being introduced, and Thunderbolt Ross returning, in Civil War, we're that much closer to a Thunderbolts movie.

@ Levi

Yeah, Joe Quesada had a big hand in why OMD was such a catastrophe, but aside from that I thought he was a pretty good Editor in Chief. Some of Marvel's greatest stories of the past 25 years came out under his reign. We've definitely seen much worse.

Man, I still can't believe this is happening. Dardevil season 2, for me, will be better by default simply because we got the introductions out of the way, now we have Matt fully integrated into the world officially as Daredevil, going up against a former love interest, female assassin, and a badass gun-toting, brutal, no non-sense, military figure in a fairly eccentric costume. More comic-booky, more epicness, more story possibilities, more characters, more awesome actors, more likey! By the time 2016 is over, I think I might actually not be foaming out the mouth due to my impatience for the next comic book "thing". The awesomeness will be overwhelming.

@HAILHYDRA

Your absolutely right! I'd watch that Netflix series and/or feature film. I think they could really pull that off, especially if they decide to use Venom. The only character that we couldn't get would be Deadpool.

@CorndogBurglar

Except in the past 25 years, we've also seen terrible Spidey stories. Slott's run, One More Day, Sins Past, Clone Saga, numerous Venom and Carnage stories in the 90s.

Only good Spidey stories were Mark Milllar's Marvel Knights Spidey story, Mark Waid's Spider-Man Family Business, and Jeph Loeb's masterpiece Spider-Man Blue.

@levi- i dont hate JQ but i do hate him for "one more day" how do you break up a couple like Peter and MJ. its all bc he's more of a Gwen and Peter kind of guy. holy shit maybe they do that for the new spidey film...have Gwen and MJ and have a john hughes love triangle..its "Say Anything" all over again for the MCU!

Daredevil is not a movie. It doesn't matter if you call it that, that doesn't make it a movie. Movies don't get nominated for Emmys. If I start calling my car a helicopter, that doesn't actually make it a helicopter.

@levitikuz I frickin love spider-man blue! Probably my favorite marvel storyline of all time and I read a lot of old marvel stuff.

@spiderman620 If I'm being honest, I prefer Peter and Gwen over Peter and MJ myself but The Night Gwen Stacy died is a huge part of that. It adds a layer of complexity, destiny, and tragedy to that relationship that will never be there for Peter and MJ. Gwen was without a doubt the love of Peter's life and the only reason he ended up with MJ is because Gwen died. I'm praying that All New All Different Marvel really uses the introduction of Spider-Gwen into the main universe to really dig into Peter's guilt from that storyline all over again. Heck depending on how they play it they could even pair the two up again and I would be ok with that. It would give each of them the second chance that they both desperately wanted, Gwen over Peter's death in her world and Peter over Gwen's in his.
