Scott Glenn On Playing 'Stick' In Netflix's DAREDEVIL; Says It's "Exciting, Demanding, And Fun."
Earlier we got an awesome new motion poster highlighting the many aspects of Netflix's DareDevil! Now, Scott Glenn reveals details about his character, and says it's exciting to be in the Marvel Universe.
While talking with Nuke The Fridge, Scott Glenn (who will play 'Stick' in Netflix’s Daredevil) says that it’s very exciting to be a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. “It’s really, really exciting. It’s kinda daunting because I’ve been telling my wife for the last eight or nine years, ‘how come they’re always having me be this old guy that sits behind a desk and sends the kids out to have all this fun?’ He then explains how the Daredevil series was different, “And for Daredevil, I loved it because…I didn’t know that world at all.” He then says that playing this character made him deal with something he’s never had to deal with before in his career. “I took it seriously and I realized that I had to play this character not tongue and cheek but seriously and I had to deal with something that I’ve never had to deal with as an actor in my life, which is being blind.”
After this, he then gives away some details about his character and says this role requires a lot of things martial arts related. “And all of a sudden I’m kind of playing a character like Zatoichi, the blind swordsman. I’m a blind assassin and a martial arts master.” He then continues, “So it meant aside from doing what you normally have to do as an actor such as making real emotional connections with the people you’re working with to move the story along and things like that, it also meant that you would have to be doing a ton of martial arts. I mean real Hong Kong Bruce Lee martial arts…blind.”
For those not familiar with Scott's character Stick, he was a blind elite warrior, trained with a high level of Martial arts. A young Matt Murdock was blinded by radioactive materials which eventually leads him to Stick. Stick then trained Matt, giving him most of the skills he needed to become the Man Without Fear. We don't know how Stick will tie-in to the Netflix series as of now, but Glenn says for him, it was exciting. "I don’t want to get into too much of the show but I was going to have to deal with that stuff for the first time in my life, so that was exciting, demanding and fun." What do you think?
