Elektra's death was crammed into the final episode of Daredevil's second season, and while it wasn't handled in the most satisfying of ways (the terrible movie arguably did it better), the fact that things wrapped up with her corpse in the possession of The Hand was definitely pretty exciting. Her returning under their control now seems inevitable, and based on what we know about the ninja clan's plans, she's going to be powered up with the mysterious Black Sky when we see her in The Defenders.
That's right, we won't have to wait until Daredevil's third season for news on what's next for Elektra as Marvel has confirmed today that Elodie Yung will be a series regular in the highly anticipated superhero ensemble which unites the Man Without Fear with Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist. This news obviously also adds further weight to theories that the team will assemble to take on The Hand.
For now though, we'll have to wait and see what sort of role Elektra ends up playing here. Her being a villain initially seems highly likely, though Daredevil will no doubt do whatever it takes to bring her back based on the comics. Do you guys think it's a good idea to make the character a big part of The Defenders? As always, be sure to let us know your thoughts on this news in the comments section.
