Believe it or not, Anthony Mackie has now played Sam Wilson/The Falcon in six movies set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but the Altered Carbon star is now set to return to the small screen for Marvel Studios' first Disney+ TV series: The Falcon and The Winter Soldier

During a recent interview with THR, the actor shed some light on how these shows differ to what we see in theaters, and it definitely sounds like they won't just be more of the same.

"They're going to feel different in and of themselves, because they're shot in a completely different way than the movies" Mackie teased. "I think people are going to be surprised by how in-depth and evolved the characters become by having six to eight hours to them, instead of just two hours."

In the aforementioned six appearances, Mackie was very much a supporting player, but the spotlight is very much being put solely on him as he transforms into the MCU's new Captain America.

"When you're on a team, you play your role," the actor continued. "But with this, you really get to see who the characters are in their lives between the movies."

It's definitely going to be fun spending more time with The Falcon and Bucky, as fans would like Marvel Studios to flesh out both of these characters, especially if they're going to be a big part of proceedings moving forward. Other familiar faces set to be highlighted in The Falcon and The Winter Soldier include Sharon Carter and the villainous Baron Zemo.

Are you guys excited for this show?

so here are my thoughts, nothing can be as good as TV because of how much time they can build the climax. Daredevil on netflix is a great example. I cant wait til we get Avengers on TV. 8 hours of it. Maybe the last episode in the movie theater, for a price of a ticket, or online for twice as much. So everyone can watch it like a movie at home if they want.

that is ideally where I want it to go

Thanks Captain Obvious.

I'm excited to see Mackie flesh Sam out more, and interested to see what Stan does with Bucky...

...but I'm practically bouncing off the walls to see what Olsen does with Wanda with six hours of screen time. And even pretty jazzed for Bettany to do another stint as Vision. Those are the two characters I desperately needed more time with.

Also, Mackie got rolled by Ant-Man. Dude has paid his dues.

Seems to me he just confirmed these will be longer than the Mandalorian episodes. An hour each sounds likely.

I'm more excited for FATWS than i am any of the announced movies. Marvel Studios are so clever with how they've designed the slate post-Endgame.

Anyway i hope this series deals with "living up to the mantle of Captain America" as an ideology and a symbol. I love that shit in the comics.

I expect nothing below average from this series. The premise alone is very promising and rich.

Everyone is saying duh, but rhone disney plus marvel shows were first announced... a lot of people couldnt understand how we could certain characters justice with a tv show vs a movie. I tried to explain that a high budget tv show offers more hours to tell a story and flash out characters. Here Mackie is saying the same. Its "duh" to those with a half decent IQ level, but for a lot of people you have to spell it out to them
