It's been confirmed that Hulu has decided not to move forward with
Ghost Rider, the live-action series that was set to star Gabriel Luna as the Robbie Reyes version of the character.
It was back in May that Hulu picked up two new live-action projects from Marvel Television, one being
Ghost Rider and the other
Helstrom. The latter remains on track, but this one reportedly fell apart after the two sides
"reached a creative impasse which could not be resolved." As a result, the streaming giant decided to put the brakes on the project.
Now, "creative differences" tends to be an excuse that's thrown around on a frequent basis, and it's important to note that it was only a couple of days ago that a rumour started doing the rounds which claimed that Marvel Studios and Kevin Feige have plans for Ghost Rider. Honestly, that's more than likely why this show is no longer happening.
Regardless, Ghost Rider has only previously appeared in
Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and given that show's fairly low viewership numbers, it won't be hard for Feige to reboot the hero for the big screen.
It's doubtful that the satanic superhero will get his own movie, but with the likes of
Blade and
Moon Knight on the way, it's easy to imagine him having a place in the wider Marvel Cinematic Universe - something that's a lot more exciting than him starring in a Hulu TV series.
What do you guys think?
