HAWKEYE Finally Reveals What Happened To Yelena Belova Following The Events Of BLACK WIDOW - SPOILERS

Black Widow came out in July, but fans have been wondering ever since what became of Yelena Belova, particularly during the events of Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame. Well, we have an answer!

We've known since Black Widow's post-credits scene that Florence Pugh's Yelena Belova would be part of the Hawkeye cast, and she returned last week for an epic rooftop showdown with Clint Barton, Kate Bishop, and Maya Lopez. Today's episode - "Ronin" - kicks off by picking up with Natasha Romanoff's sister shortly after the events of that character's solo movie.

It's 2018, and Yelena has been freeing Black Widows from the Red Room's control, but one of her fellow operatives reveals that she's been free of Dreykov for a while, making money as a hired assassin. Clearly thrown off by the whole situation, Yelena heads to the bathroom to wash her face...only to turn to dust and return in the exact same spot five years later.

Yes, Yelena was blipped along with half of the universe when Thanos snapped his fingers, and it appears she too started working for Valentina Allegra de Fontaine in the months that followed.

During a confrontation with Kate in the present day, Yelena reveals that while she seemingly wants revenge for Natasha's death, someone has hired her to kill Clint (making "Val" a middle (wo)man, of sorts). We do learn who it is later in the episode - more on that soon - and it appears Yelena may be having her doubts given who is behind that. It's also worth noting that Hawkeye is set before the events of Spider-Man: No Way Home as those changes to the Statue of Liberty are mentioned!

It definitely feels like the stage is being set for Yelena to have a key role in the MCU, and we're betting on her actually teaming up with Clint and Kate next week. We'll see what happens, though...

Florence Pugh is so freaking adorable. I could stare into that cute little face all day.

Great episode. Glad to see things pan out they way they are. No “Mephisto” BS this time.

Florence's Yelena is easily one of the best characters Marvel's ever put onscreen. There's so much damn character work being done in every moment she's there, and each thing she's appeared in has made the smart decision to just let her do her thing for long stretches of time.

It was jarring to see her snap because I had forgot all about it. I loved watching her and Kate talk. Really felt like the new leaders of the mcu speaking

love this Yelena. Florence Pugh's acting is so on point and loves her expression while having some conversation with kate.

Wait so is Spider-Man set in 2025 then? If Hawkeye is before, it’s at the very tail end of 2024.

@Kurban - I haven't seen No Way Home, so I can't say what happens in that movie or when it's set so its pure speculation: I think Kate's look after Yelena mentioning the new Statue really gave me the idea that it might've been destoyed and thus not worth visiting anymore

Her snapping out of existence made sense age-wise, but aside from that it was also pretty amazingly well done. Only makes me realize more that The Blip really is a name that doesn't capture the traumatic and disorienting event justice

If Yelana joins the New Avengers she'd be cracking jokes in one scene and permanently disabling bad guys in the next scene
