Gareth Evans On Directing A Superhero Movie
What if Marvel Studios came knocking at Gareth Evans' door to make an action-packed superhero movie? That was the precise question put to the The Raid director at last night's Frightfest. There's one problem however says Evans...
Flicks and the City caught up with director Gareth Evans, who's quickly amassing a sizable following based on his work on The Raid. After discussing plot details and stuntman injuries on The Raid 2: Berthendal, Evans was asked what he thought about directing a superhero movie, potentially a Marvel Studios installment. Said Evans, "It's tough. The thing is right now, where I am, the kind of things that I'm doing, I don't know if I fit the superhero mold yet. It's something I need to learn at some point but I don't know if I can deliver a PG-13 movie. I don't know how to do that yet. I should learn but yeah, I'm not sure. Maybe a darker, superhero [film] from Marvel." Based on Evans work on The Raid and other action films, I think he'd be perfect for the guy on the right.
And if you're unfamiliar with his work, I present Exhibit A for your enjoyment.
