Kevin Feige Explains Why He's Hesitant To Introduce Marvel's Netflix Characters To The Cinematic Universe
Most of us figure it's only a matter of time before we get to see the likes of Jessica Jones & Daredevil in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but as Kevin Feige explains, it's far from set in stone..
It won't happen in Infinity War, but will we eventually see Marvel's Netflix characters join The Avengers up on the big screen? Considering it's all supposed to be set in the same universe you would think it's a no-brainer, but Marvel Studios representatives have always seemed reluctant to offer anything in the way of confirmation that plans are in place.
During a press junket for Doctor Strange, Collider asked Kevin Feige if he thought the likes of Daredevil, Luke Cage and Jessica Jones would ever make the transition to the MCU, and Marvel's head honcho explained that it'll only happen when the time is right.
"I think it’s extremely impressive what Netflix has done and it will be the same answer I always give, which is, “It all depends on timing.” It all depends on how to do it because I don’t think what anybody wants to do is have such important characters show up for one second. Black Panther and Spider-Man to me are the high bar in Civil War of how you can bring in new characters into something. Vision and Ultron, Wanda and Pietro in Ultron. And it takes a lot of screentime, and it takes a lot of work. Infinity War has a lot of people in it already. So it just depends on how we could figure it out."
As frustrating as it can be for fans to hear something like this, the man makes a great point. The MCU is now positively teeming with characters, and adding the Netflix heroes to the mix just for the sake of it wouldn't do any of them, or the audience, any favors.
For now we'll have to be content that the possibility is being discussed, and we will see it happen... eventually.
