SAMURAI JACK Creator Stills Wants To Do His LUKE CAGE Comic

Way back in 2007, Dexter Laboratory's creator, Gennedy Tartkovsky, was suppose to write and draw a 4 part Luke Cage comic entitle Cage!. That never happened but when asked about the comic in a recent interview, Tartkovsky still would like to publish his comic. Click to check it out.

Little bio time. For those of you who don't know, Gennedy Tartkovsky is a man of many times. He is the director of the Hotel Transylvania films. He worked as an artist on Batman: The Animated Series and also a storyboard artist on Marvel Studios's Iron Man 2. He was the creator of animated shows such as Dexter's Laboratory, Samurai Jack, and the original Star Wars: Clone Wars. Back in 2007, he was suppose to publish a 4 part series title Cage! for Marvel focusing on Luke Cage. Sadly that hasn't happen yet but Tartkovsky would still wish to publish it.

In an interview with IGN, Tartkovsky was asked what ever happened with CAGE! and if he would still do to which Tartkovsky responded "Actually, you could help out with that. [laugh] The deal was, I agreed to do the comic as long as I had no schedule, and I actually finished all the pencils and part of the inking, and it was just a matter of continuing on. Then I think I got into Sym-Bionic Titan, and then into the features, and then I got too busy -- and I think my contact at Marvel left. So maybe you could put the word out that I do really want to finish it, and then maybe somebody at Marvel can contact me [Laughs], and we can work it out again. I actually just found them last week, all my pencils, and I was like, 'Oh, this still stands up! It'd be fun to finish it.'"

Given how the Marvel Studios Netflix Luke Cage series is filming and likely will be out next year, it would be a smart idea for Marvel Comics to reach out to Tarkovsky to let him finish and publish the comic for release around the Netflix premiere. Seems like a smart idea in my opinion. What are your thoughts? Would you like to see a Luke Cage comic written & drawn by the Samurai Jack creator or not? Comment below, let me know. Peace and remember...

This looks awesome, but Gennedy Tartkovsky may not pass "Go" and may not collect $200 until he finishes the Samurai Jack film.
