MOON KNIGHT Racks Up A Mighty 75 Million Trailer Views During Its First 24 Hours Of Release

It's looking like Marvel Studios has another major hit on its hands with Moon Knight, as the viewing figures for the first trailer make it clear there's a lot of interest in Marc Spector's MCU debut...

Moon Knight has never been an A-List superhero in the Marvel Universe, but he's definitely gained something of a cult following since debuting in the pages of Werewolf-by-Night #32 in 1975. Marc Spector has since appeared in several different solo titles, and while some have worked better than others, none have really had the staying power of titles like Amazing Spider-Man and Iron Man.

The hope is that the Moon Knight TV series will rejuvenate the character and create a whole new legion of fans who will help ensure the unhinged vigilante gets to shine on the page again; however, this April, Marvel Comics will launch Moon Knight: Black, White, and Blood, a four-part anthology series to accompany Jed Mackay's solid run on the anti-hero's core series.

Fans are clearly excited about Moon Knight's MCU debut, anyway, as The Hollywood Reporter reveals that the trailer generated over 75 million views during its first 24 hours online. 23 million of those came from the NFL game the teaser premiered during with the rest counted from YouTube and social media.

This is actually higher than the debuts of trailers for Loki and WandaiVision, though The Falcon and The Winter Soldier remains in the #1 spot with 125 million views after dropping during the Super Bowl. Social engagement for Moon Knight is through the roof, though, which bodes well for Disney+.

"I couldn’t tell if this was a movie or a TV show, that’s how good it looks," one rival studio executive told the trade, clearly impressed by what Marvel Studios has delivered.

The series follows Steven Grant, a mild-mannered gift-shop employee, who becomes plagued with blackouts and memories of another life. Steven discovers he has dissociative identity disorder and shares a body with mercenary Marc Spector. As Steven/Marc’s enemies converge upon them, they must navigate their complex identities while thrust into a mystery among the powerful gods of Egypt.

Moon Knight premieres on Disney+ on March 30.
