When Disney acquired Marvel Studios, the MCU was given the opportunity to expand in a new and exciting way. The massive success of The Avengers spawned a spin-off TV series on ABC, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., and while it initially struggled to match the lofty expectations of many fans, those first couple of seasons were closely tied to the wider MCU.
Samuel L. Jackson even showed up as Nick Fury, but as time went on and the divide between Kevin Feige and Marvel Entertainment CEO Ike Perlmutter widened, the Jeph Loeb-led Marvel Television quickly became its own thing.
For example, when Marvel Studios declined to make an Inhumans movie, we got a TV series that...well, it's best forgotten.
A number of street-level superheroes also took centre stage on Netflix, though a sudden lack of connectivity with the MCU meant they were stranded in a post-Avengers timeline that never seemed to move forward. Despite that, there was still a lot to love about those shows, even in the midst of some bizarre creative decisions.
While we'd continue to see this corner of the Marvel Universe expand with the likes of Runaways and, er, Helstrom, Marvel Studios soon took charge of everything.
On Disney+, the MCU has rapidly expanded, kicking off with the game-changing WandaVision and later concluding Phase 4 with the introduction of new superheroes like Moon Knight, Ms. Marvel, and She-Hulk. As we look ahead to 2023, the likes of Secret Invasion, Loki season 2, and Ironheart are all on the way.
That barely scratches the surface, but it's what we've had up until now that we're focusing on today. As Phase 5 gets ready to kick off, we want to know which of the Marvel Television/Marvel Studios TV shows you think is best. Regardless of what should and shouldn't be considered "canon" or the choices made along the way, this is your chance to weigh in!
To do so, you just need to cast your vote in the poll below...
