Dermot Mulroney plays President Ritson in Secret Invasion, but the actor's time as the world's most powerful politician may well be limited...and not just because he's become the target of Earth's invading Skrulls!
Earlier this year, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige confirmed that Harrison Ford's General "Thunderbolt" Ross will be the U.S. President in Captain America: Brave New World, meaning Ritson's time in the Oval Office is about to end one way or the other.
Nick Fury has just rescued him, of course, but we couldn't help asking Mulroney for his thoughts on passing the Presidential baton to Ford next year.
"[Laughs] That’s bad news!" he told us last week. "No, I don’t know what anybody’s intent is, but I couldn’t ask for more. I’m so fulfilled and thrilled to have been in Secret Invasion. I have no concept of whether Ritson survives or lives on or continues in the storyline."
"It would be a thrill, of course, but if I have to lose the next election to one American, and it has to be Harrison Ford, I guess that’s fair enough. That’s okay [Laughs]. There’s nothing about two terms…I can be his Vice President! I can have two terms of Vice President under President Harrison Ford."
It's certainly possible we haven't seen the last of Ritson, and Black Panther: Wakanda Forever established that he had some pretty sinister ideas about destabilising Wakanda. While we don't believe he's a Skrull, that's also not a possibility we can entirely dismiss heading into Secret Invasion's final two episodes.

Secret Invasion is now streaming on Disney+. The fifth episode premieres this Wednesday, July 19!
