Netflix officially revealed the premiere date for the second season of Marvel's The Punisher last week, and now the streaming giant has debuted the first full trailer.

We find Frank Castle (Jon Bernthal) attempting to lead a semi-normal life after the events of season 1, but trouble just seems to have a way of tracking down the ultra-violent vigilante, and when he comes to the aid of a young girl named Amy Bendix (Giorgia Whigham) he gets all he can handle.

Meanwhile, his old friend Billy Russo (Ben Barnes) reemerges with vengeance on his mind, and it looks like he has his very own masked army at his disposal.

Check out the Alice In Chains-accompanied trailer below along with some previously released promo stills, and let us know what you hope to see from the new - and most likely final - season of The Punisher in the comments.

Barnes has already confirmed that his character won't actually adopt the Jigsaw moniker in season 2, and now we know why. Russo is going to mask-up and, presumably, create an entirely new persona to help him track down and take out The Punisher.

Sorry, Billy, but you'll always be Jigsaw to us!

Russo's scars are a bit less extreme than we expected after the gruesome mess Frank left his face in at the end of season 1, but then it does look a lot better than the ridiculous Punisher: Warzone interpretation.

An awesome new shot of The Punisher. Is this the last time we'll see Bernthal don the character's signature skull logo? If Marvel has any sense they will find a way to keep the former Walking Dead actor on in the role.

Awesome trailer, love what I'm seeing, looks like an even better season. The way the fights are shot, etc. gives me a very Daredevil-esque vibe, which is great. And excited to see Jigsaw's transformation, his cracked mentality. Bring season 2 on! At least they are going all in for the season and going out with a bang.

I'm sorry, but why won't Bernthal wear the [frick]ing trench coat?

He looks absolutely perfect in it, makes him look bigger/more intimidating. But its like he refuses to wear it. He looks too skinny when he's just wearing the vest.

@Kurne - I think it's more for practicality in staging the fight scenes. A trench coat it's really effective in a lot fights, especially in close quarters fights. A lot of modern CBM's CGI in the capes, just for that very reason.

@Kurne - Probably the director’s call, not Bernthal’s. That plus what @JoeInTheBox said. Trench coats and dusters look very cool, though.

@blitzburgh - they're still putting out music. The Devil Put Dinosaurs Here was a pretty great album, and Rainier Fog was pretty good too; there's even a song on there that sounds like Layne is singing.

@HeavyMetal4Life - Epic song, but chopping it up kinda ruined it. Rooster would have been a better fit.

@HeavyMetal4Life - no I just listen to that song you put on there but it really bums me out that he died because that literally was my favorite band and got me through my high school years

1st one was great, tho I wish he was more of the PUNISHER, hunting down criminals and less in defensive mode against paramilitary forces.

It might be premature, but by this trailer we'll see more of that.

Guess you can't simply show him killing common criminals these times.

@Fogs - They've given him a very different core drive (which I don't see as a bad thing). In the comics, it's basically as if crime itself took his family, so since he can never end crime, he's able to have this endless hunt on criminals. MCU's Frank lost his family due to a conspiracy. He's gotten his revenge, so now he's compelled by his sense of justice and the violent nature brought on by his experiences and trauma. Perhaps this season could take him closer to comic Frank, ending with him figuring out that he's compelled to do this, but so far there hasn't been a good enough motive for him to hunt down criminals who he has no personal vendetta against.

Feels like an Ennis comic no doubt. That move by Frank in the bathroom...

So everything that's happening is because of a teenage girl? Lol

@THEDARKKNIGHT1939 - this is what happened in the Slavers storyline.

Frank runs across one of the runaway sex slaves and she tells him her story. Heisn’t killing these guys this just because they are scum. He is doing this for someone else, so that she might get some small closure like Frank never did.

@BlackBeltJones - I hope they're going with the human trafficking plot if that's what this is. Right now, she seems like some random girl who got in with the wrong people.

@THEDARKKNIGHT1939 - Agreed. I feel like they need to go that route. It seems like the right wing Christian Fundamentalist guy deals in that sort of the thing too, so fingers crossed.

@THEDARKKNIGHT1939 - The character is from the Bullet Run storyline (its not called that but its close enough, cant remember what its really called) and her father was a small town sheriff killed by people looking for Frank. There has been an actor cast as a sheriff so I'm guessing that could be her father in flashbacks.

Now that an official trailer has been released one week before the season's release, Netflix can go back to putting no effort into marketing this show. Who would have guessed that the powers that be at Netflix would take time out of their very busy schedules to promote their own show.

Astounding work Netflix, astounding. Hey Netflix:
