THE PUNISHER's Jon Bernthal Has A Blunt Message For The Alt-Right Fans Of His Violent Character
During a new interview, The Punisher star Jon Bernthal responds to reports of white supremacists donning Frank Castle's iconic skull symbol for their protests, and he's about as blunt as you'd expect...
The Punisher is definitley a complex character, but it's very clear that he has zero qualms about murdering anyone he deems to have had it coming.
It was probably always inevitable that such a violent antihero would become an inspiration for certain groups of unsavory individuals, and sure enough, Frank Castle's skull symbol was spotted on the shoulders of alt-right protesters at the recent white-supremacy rally in Charlottesville, VA.
While chatting to Esquire Magazine, Jon Bernthal was asked for his thoughts on this, and gave a succinct but very effective response: “F–k them.”
Bernthal doesn't feel the same way about the US armed forces in Iraq sporting the symbol, however, telling the mag that he feels “honored to play a guy who people putting their life on the line identify with.”
What do you think about Bernthal's comments? Netflix recently confirmed that The Punisher would return for a secoind season, but we don't have a premiere date yet.
