WANDAVISION Star Elizabeth Olsen Teases A Possible Period Setting For The Disney+ Marvel Series

We still know very little about Marvel's upcoming WandaVision Disney+ series, but in a new interview, star Elizabeth Olsen shares some intriguing new details on what fans should expect. More past the jump.

It sounds like WandaVision is going to be a long way from your typical superhero team-up story.

While official plot details for the upcoming Disney+ series remain a mystery, star Elizabeth Olsen did share some very interesting details while chatting to Variety at the Avengers: Endgame premiere.

According to the Scarlet Witch actress, the series will pull from “quite a few other comic books,” and will either be set in the 1950s (somehow) or have a '50s aesthetic.

Could the show actually take place in the past? Well, we know time-travel is possible in The MCU and both Vision and Scarlet Witch have previously untapped reality-altering powers, so it's certainly not out of the question. It does seem more likely that Olsen is referencing the photograph to give us a much vaguer hint, however.

What do you guys make of this? Drop us a comment down below. WandaVision is expected to start shooting this fall, and will be comprised of six hour-long episodes.

It always felt like a missed opportunity that her powers didn't come from the reality stone. If anything approximates the weirdness of hex bolts and probability bending, it's probably that. Her glowy red mist stuff even looks pretty much like the Aether.

@BlackBeltJones - Well, there you go, then.

@Spock0Clock - always took that as an indication that she had a connection to the stones. I think its been hinted at that the stones speak one another (I may be reaching).

Also, Marvel's visual effects head Christopher Townshend once said that its NO COINCIDENCE that Wanda's red energy mimics the signature of the Infinity Stones.

@Spock0Clock - also yea big missed opportunity unless they have a definite plan for all this.

This 50s aesthetic thing pretty much confirms that some reality bending of some sort will be going on.

Unless.....ol Vision is going to project he and Wanda into some weird Matrix, Pleasantville VR system

@Spock0Clock - Has the fact that the mind stone was in their possession when they "created" her been established as cannon that her powers originate from it? The reality stone was also on earth around the same time as she could have had some interaction with it... or her parents.

@BlackBeltJones - i believe it was mentioned in one of the movie tie-in comics that the stones seek out each other... once you have one, it is easier to find others.

@Spock0Clock - Even though it has Wanda and Vision in the title... does the title actually have a double meaning?... and that this 50s reality is her "vision" of a perfect life that she creates?

JonC - 4/24/2019, 4:24 PM
@Spock0Clock - maybe marvel doesn't want to give away the true title... not unlike when they said Civil War was actually to be called Serpent Society. Maybe it is tied to house of M.

So...it'll be like a 50s home sitcom?

I kid, I kid. :P

Personally, I would love to see a super-domestic-rom-com with Olsen and Bettany. Depending on how they do it, I could even imagine them including parody elements like having Vision trying to imitate the Tim Allen grunt or whatever. Even sometimes having a laugh-track to reinforce the unreality of it.

My only complaint is that it's got a terrible title. What's wrong with this:

@Spock0Clock - if you think the title is bad, just wait til you see Vision trying to pull off Tim Allen grunts... does everybody know what time it is? WandaVis time!

Please, somebody tell me that "WandaVision" won't be the actual name of the show...
it's terrible.

In a twist, the whole show is going to be recycling unused “Bewitched” scripts.

Seriously, though, they had two miniseries of them trying to live in the suburbs, various tie ins like Marvel Team ups set during that time, and then there was King’s Vision series as well. Had some fun things to draw from in those issues... Lots of drama from their respective families... Magneto and Pietro, the Grim Reaper, as well as Agatha Harkness, Doctor Strange, Samhain, witches, zombies...

Mark, for those of us who havent seen Endgame yet I sure hope your statement "we know time-travel is possible in The MCU" isn't a SPOILER and you're referring to Dr. Strange!!!

Definitely borrowing heavily from Tom King's Vision, which is an excellent run.
