Well, that was quite the finale, eh?

What If...?'s first season has reached its end, and while we'll return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe in less than a month for Eternals, the next Disney+ TV series won't arrive until Hawkeye hits Disney+ in late November. We have plenty to discuss from this animated series in the meantime, of course, and you'll want to continue checking back here today for all the latest on "What If...The Watcher Broke His Oath?"

In the meantime, we're breaking down which actors reprised their MCU roles for the finale and who was recast.

When it comes to familiar voices, we had Samuel L. Jackson (Nick Fury), Hayley Atwell (Captain Carter), Frank Grillo (Brock Rumlow), Georges St-Pierre (Batroc), Chadwick Boseman (Star-Lord), Michael B. Jordan (Killmonger), Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Benedict Cumberbatch (Doctor Strange Supreme), Tony Jones (Arnim Zola), Tom Hiddleston (Loki), and Kurt Russell (Ego).

A lot of actors didn't return for What If...?, though, and the new cast members lending their voices to these characters included Lake Bell (Black Widow), Brian T. Delaney (Peter Quill), Mick Wingert (Iron Man), Cynthia McWilliams (Gamora), Ozioma Akagha (Shuri), and Ross Marquand (Ultron).

We didn't spend much time with Gamora, but that's because the show's delayed tenth episode was set to reveal more about her and Tony Stark's time on Sakaar. That's been pushed to season 2, meaning we'll learn her origin story once What If...? returns to Disney+ sometime in 2022 or 2023.

Great action, and as usual the episode moves quicker than Pietro Maximoff. It's such a beautifully animated show. The story is hit or miss sometimes, but they always go hard with the animation and pure spectacle of it all. For this show to not even be on my radar at first, it's a welcome surprise for me. In my opinion Marvel has...

Satisfactory ending, there’s enough eps that I do like for me to overlook what I didn’t, and they used what I didn’t like in a good way here, ie Thor, Carter, and Star’challa

It is an irrelevant ending. It would have been great if the Watcher sent the post-apocalyptic widow to the universe where she sacrifices herself to get the stone.

Really not a good episode. It's pretty much the avengers but already dialed up to endgame levels of stakes while having no real time for actual heart. It really shows the what if format simply isn't suitable for a crossover like moment like how the rest of the mcu has operated, and should stick to more self contained stories.

Benedict Cumberbatch was back... ish.
The line where he says about seperating the infinity gems was done by Robin Atkin Downes who also did his demonic grunts and groans.

I really liked the ending they gave to all the stories, even if some got some very abrupt ones (Killmonger's world for example)
