While we only know the premise of a few episodes of What If...?, there's already a huge amount of excitement about exploring these vastly different versions of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
However, some fans have argued that the likes of Captain Carter and Marvel Zombies are wasted on a Disney+ animated series (despite rumours there are live-action plans for the former). Well, during a recent interview with Inverse, What If...? executive producer and Marvel Studios veteran Brad Winderbaum made it clear any of these ideas could one day be used in a live-action project.
"We wanted each story to be able to be open and shut in that half an hour timeframe, but it's hard not to imagine more chapters with some of these characters," he teased. "I hope that one day we do get to see more adventures in some of these alternate timelines."
"All you have to do to prove that is look back at how many stories from the What If...? comics ended up in the main continuity of the comic universe," Winderbaum continued. "My prediction is a similar thing could happen on the cinematic side as well." It feels a lot like he might be alluding to those Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness rumours there, eh?
It's certainly exciting to think about how What If...? could inspire the wider MCU, regardless of whether that's with animated characters making the jump to live-action or Marvel Studios simply using the series to inspire future movies (Marvel Zombies would make for one heck of a movie down the line).
