Though an official premiere date has yet to be announced, Marvel's What If? is expected to hit Disney+ later this year. The animated series will explore parallel realities and alternate stories from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, with The Watcher (Jeffrey Wright) acting as our guide.
We haven't seen a whole lot from the show since the first trailer was released late last year, but a new promo banner has now found its way online (via Amazon's merchandise page), and it gives us a new look at several of the alternate reality MCU heroes that'll appear.
Peggy Carter's Captain Britain leads the charge, with Star-Lord (T'Challa), Iron Man (Steve Rogers), Zombie Captain America, Thor, Killmonger, Gamora, Black Widow, Doctor Strange and The Watcher. We still don't know how some of these characters will differ from their more familiar counterparts, but we're sure Marvel has come up with some creative ways to showcase what could well be our first proper glimpse into the Multiverse.
"'What If…?' flips the script on the MCU, reimagining famous events from the films in unexpected ways," reads the official synopsis. "Coming to Disney+ in summer 2021, Marvel Studios’ first animated series focuses on different heroes from the MCU," it continues, "featuring a voice cast that includes a host of stars who reprise their roles. The series is directed by Bryan Andrews; Ashley Bradley is head writer."
