Stranger Things has grown to become not only one of Netflix's most popular shows but a cultural phenomenon as well. But for as good as the writing, set design, and production value is, the truth is it would not be the hit show it is today if not for the wonderful cast of actors.

In a new video featurette, the creators, cast, and casting directors of Stranger Things sit down to discuss the actors who have helped bring the roles to life. While creators Matt and Ross Duffer along with executive producer/director Shawn Levy are often credited for the show's success, casting director Carmen Cuba is also very much responsible for putting together the wonderful cast of kids.

"We made a real effort to find kids that could embody the idea of being an outsider," Cuba says of the casting decisions.

"Everybody is different. There is no two of the same thing and that's why that chemistry is so unique and I think that's why that chemistry is at the heart of what people love about Stranger Things," offers Levy.

Check out the spotlight video below and hear from the rest of the Stranger Things cast, including Millie Bobby Brown (Eleven), Finn Wolfhard (Mike), Gaten Matarazzo (Dustin), Caleb McLaughlin (Lucas), and the rest of the gang. Although Stranger Thing is gearing up for its third season, the video below addresses the casting of the first two seasons, particularly the additions of Sean Astin and Paul Reiser.

Production on season three of Stranger Things kicked off in April. While we don't yet have an exact date, it's expected to premiere sometime in 2019. The first teaser promo for the new season arrived last month in the form of an 80s-style commercial for The Starcourt Mall. It offered a look at series newcomer Maya Hawke, who plays Robin in the show.

Stranger Things gives me a heavy nostalgic feeling, even though I didn't grow up in the 80's and the show came out only 3 years ago.

Bravo, Carmen Cuba. Best group of child actors I've seen since the Harry Potter gang.
