During WitcherCon today, Netflix announced when Season 2 of The Witcher will premiere, and unfortunately, we're going to be waiting a little while longer than expected. While we thankfully don't have to wait until next year, it's about as close as you can get. The Witcher's second season will debut on December 17.

Netflix still hasn't released a proper trailer for the highly anticipated second season (Update: An official teaser trailer has been released. Check it out below!), but we did get a few more teaser images, including our first look at Jaskier, everyone's favorite bard.

Netflix also confirmed that Season 2 will consist of eight episodes, with the streaming service dropping the titles for each one.

  • Episode 1 - A Grain of Truth
  • Episode 2 - Kaer Morhen
  • Episode 3 - What Is Lost
  • Episode 4 - Redanian Intelligence
  • Episode 5 - Turn Your Back
  • Episode 6 - Dear Friend
  • Episode 7 - Voleth Meir
  • Episode 8 - [REDACTED]

No plot details were revealed, but the titles could offer some clues into what to expect from Season 2. Interestingly, the season finale was left a secret, suggesting a major spoiler. It's worth noting that the Episode 2 title does strongly tie into the original synopsis we had previously heard.

"Convinced Yennefer’s life was lost at the Battle of Sodden, Geralt of Rivia brings Princess Cirilla to the safest place he knows, his childhood home of Kaer Morhen. While the Continent’s kings, elves, humans and demons strive for supremacy outside its walls, he must protect the girl from something far more dangerous: the mysterious power she possesses inside."

Season 2 of The Witcher will continue the adventures of Geralt of Rivia, played by Henry Cavill. Anya Chalotra (Yennefer), Freya Allan (Ciri), and Joey Batey (Jaskier) all return for the second season, alongside series newcomers Yasen Atour as the witcher Coen, Agnes Bjorn as the bruxa Vereena, Paul Bullion as the witcher Lambert, Thue Ersted Rasmussen as the witcher Eskel, Aisha Fabienne Ross as Lydia, Kristofer Hivju as Nivellen, and Mecia Simson as Francesca.

The Witcher Season 2 will premiere on Netflix on December 17. We'll likely learn more about the upcoming season as WitcherCon continues.

The first season was good but I want to see more messed up monster designs like The Witcher 3 video game.

Didn't think it'd be that far away.

@THEDARKKNIGHT1939 - Yeah. I mean "covid pass," but these 2-year waits between seasons have gotten REALLY old. I loved season 1, but it's going to be hard to re-engage after that long of a delay.

@Rosraf - I think some of these show should consider just filming multiple seasons at once, especially if it's just 10 or less episodes per season anyway.

I got a newfound appreciation for the first season after falling in love with Witcher 3. The only thing I want from season 2 is a more memorable soundtrack. Not that it was bad in season 1, but compared to the game, well, let's not kid ourselves.

That'll be something great to see over Christmas.

Cavill is also going to be the lead for Matthew Vaughn's Argylle. It also has Samuel L Jackson, Sam Rockwell, Bryce Dallas Howard, Bryan Cranston, Catherine O’Hara, John Cena and Dua Lipa.

Was season 1 perfect? No…
Was it still a lot of fun? Yes…
I’m definitely down for more and hopefully everything about season 2 is an improvement from season 1.

Season 1 had some writing issues here and there, but man did I fricking love it. Now this looks even better and seems to include some Witcher 3 scenes and possible story?

I need it now.
