According to The Illuminerdi, Ewan McGregor is set to have a recurring role in Andor. The Disney+ series stars Diego Luna as Rogue One: A Star Wars Story character Cassian Andor, and is obviously set between the events of Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope.
The site offers no details on how Obi-Wan Kenobi will factor into the series, but it's beginning to feel like the Jedi Master may have spent quite a few years not watching over Luke Skywalker on Tatooine.
It's possible he'll just appear in flashbacks (though we're not sure that will work in terms of the timeline), but perhaps even more likely that Kenobi will be seen communicating with Senator Bail Organa as a hologram. This wouldn't explain why we never saw him in Star Wars Rebels, of course, but Organa and Mon Mothma did talk about sending for Kenobi in Rogue One. So, the pieces are starting to slot together, and it now seems likely that the Obi-Wan Kenobi series could tie directly into this.
Shooting is currently taking place on Andor in the UK, and a cast has been assembled which includes Stellan Skarsgård, Adria Arjona, Fiona Shaw, Denise Gough, Kyle Soller, and Genevieve O’Rielly. Alan Tudyk was slated to appear as K-2SO, but it sounds like he's being saved for a season two.
We'll see how this pans out, but as Obi-Wan is reportedly set to have a recurring present in Andor, this idoesn't spoil any surprise cameos, and it's likely the character will factor heavily into the show's marketing campaign.
Stay tuned for updates.
