ANDOR: Saw Garrera Finally Makes His Presence Felt For A Heated Confrontation With [SPOILER]

We've known for some time now that Forest Whitaker's Saw Gerrera would return in Andor following his Rogue One: A Star Wars Story appearance, and that led to a heated confrontation with another character.

Thanks to the trailers and posters for Andor, we've known for some time now that Forest Whitaker's Saw Gerrera would appear in the Disney+ series, and he finally showed up in today's episode, "Narkina 5."

Luthen Rael, desperate to get the Rebellion to continue taking bold steps forward, meets with Saw on Segra Milo. During a tense conversation between the two Rebels, we learn how differently they approach this fight against the Empire, with both arguing that the other must have been responsible for the heist on Aldhani.

Despite being allies, they clearly don't trust each other, and Luthen offers Saw various pieces of tech in exchange for his people embarking on a mission with Anto Kreegyr. The Rebel refuses to put his people at risk for someone else, and is clearly focused on his own plans.

They argue, and Saw refuses to work with a Separatist before naming all the different factions of Rebels who are out there. He believes they are lost, and it becomes easy to see why he was so isolated in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story

Luthen once again reiterates his point that people will be more willing to rebel if they're oppressed by the Empire, sharing his fear that Emperor Palpatine will one day grow too powerful to stop. We're starting to see the formation of the Rebellion, but it's apparent that bringing them together won't be as simple as it might have first appeared.

Saw refuses to work with Luthen on this occasion, though we can't believe this is the last we've seen of the extremist. He has a couple of X-Wings outside his base, so it's obvious that there's more story to tell with him over the course of Andor's remaining episodes.

Also noteworthy is the fact this Saw is without the breathing mask and robotic legs he had in Rogue One. Could this show be where we learn how he sustained those injuries?

This show is so well acted and so well directed and produced and is pretty much perfect in every way, save for the fact I can't follow the plot points to save my life and I'm bored 90% of the time.

This show makes me feel stupid like when I try to read Tom Clancy novels.

this is gonna sound weird, but I loooove all the fictional tedium of this show, tell me about those imperial reports, show me in painful detail the construction of the machines on the prison planet, explain me the routines of the inmates, give me more of the Empire's bureacratic BS, it's so interesting.

@Spidey91 - this show actually manages to make the monotony of politics, bureaucracy, and pencil pushing reports that the prequels tried to make us care about, actually interesting.

I thoroughly enjoyed the walkthrough of the prison and the rundown of the routines and culture within it.

This show is so damn good. The prison stuff with Andor was so well done. The method they used to keep prisoners in line was chilling.

This episode did a nice job of showing how the rebellion’s actions create large political ripple effects and subsequent resentment amongst the populace of the galaxy as well. But you understand what Luthen means when he says they need the Empire to be as angry as possible for all of this work. Keep pushing that line.

Serkis was great in his small role as well. I feel for Bix

@GhostDog - I could even "feel" the pressure/rule of the empire over all its citizens and prisioners in this case. Marvelous show !

@Starlight - yea the tension was so tangible. I could feel it through my screen.

@MyCoolYoung - Everytime there's a promising young director, people starts calling him "the next Spielberg" or the like. I won't do that with Coogler, but I do think he will probably go down in history as one of the greats like Spielberg.

@FinnishDude - Man, I hope so. What I like about Coogler, so far, he won't bite off more than he can chew.

He takes one project at a time and puts his heart into that movie, and it shows

@MyCoolYoung - Granted, no filmmaker has a spotless filmography their entire career, but so far, if Wakanda Forever really is as great as the early buzz is saying, Coogler has successfully directed...

- A small budget indie drama.
- A legacy sequel to a beloved franchise.
- A big budget blockbuster (which was even nominated for the best picture).
- A sequel to his blockbuster.

That track record is nothing to sneeze at.

@FinnishDude - it really isn't. Even though I wasn't the biggest fruitvale fan, it was really well made. Creed Is one of My all time favorites and black panther is just a goat

Dear members of the production crew, a little more subtlety would be nice? I know you`re trying to ensure that there`s enough food on the table next year. But when you write comments and praise something (hoping that nobody will notice) At least do so on actually RELEVANT websites. And no, I won`t give you any suggestions. Google them yourself, for once ;)

I work at a film company, have been doing so for two decades now, so yeah THIS IS A THING.
Now bring the Shitstorm (I won`t read it, so it`s YOUR time your`e wasting) I´ll be back in a few days. soo. :)? Have fun.

Saw Gerrera was in Star Wars Rebels without a breathing mask or robotic legs. Those episodes took place about 2 years before Rogue One/A New Hope. So, if we do indeed learn how he sustained those injuries, it will probably be in season 2. That will be a long, long wait. I guess sometime in 2024.
