Despite only appearing in a couple of scenes and usually only in the background, arguably the most talked-about aspect of the first two episodes of Ahsoka is the mysterious Inquisitor known as Marrok.
The official character description at StarWars.com reads:
"Once an Inquisitor hunting Jedi for the Empire, the mysterious Marrok now works as a mercenary hired by Morgan Elsbeth to carry out dark deeds. Fully encased in battered battle armor, the warrior still carries a red double-bladed saber with a circular hilt."
We've seen a few faceless Inquisitors over the years, and Marrok may simply be another minor villain destined to be dispatched by Ahsoka Tano or one of her allies later in the season, but a lot of fans are convinced that he will ultimately be unmasked as a previously established character.
The most popular theory is that Marrok is Ezra Bridger, which wouldn't actually be too far-fetched. After all, the young Force-wielder disappeared with Grand Admiral Thrawn in the series finale of Star Wars Rebels, and we know Jedi can be corrupted under the right (or wrong) influence.
There's also the fact that the name Marrok derives from the Arthurian legend of Sir Marrok, a knight who was turned into a wolf by Morgan le Fay.
However, there is also speculation that he may turn out to be Galen Marek, AKA Starkiller, who was Darth Vader's secret apprentice in the now non-canon The Force Unleashed video games.
Starkiller was voiced by Sam Witwer, who is listed in the show's credits - although it's worth noting that the Battlestar Galactica alum has been involved in quite a few Star Wars projects in some capacity over the years!
This doesn't completely rule out the possibility, of course, but we'd say there is more of chance of Marrok being unveiled as Ezra. Will we find out during this week's third episode, perhaps?
