Disney+ Day takes place on September 8, and the streaming service confirmed today (via SFFGazette.com) that we're getting a special exploring the making of Obi-Wan Kenobi titled A Jedi's Return.

With never-before-seen behind-the-scenes footage, colourful personal stories and meaningful moments, Obi-Wan Kenobi: A Jedi's Return delves into the making of the latest Lucasfilm original limited series. This insightful documentary from Lucasfilm and Supper Club explores the return of Ewan McGregor and Hayden Christensen to their respective classic roles as Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker.

Director Deborah Chow, cast and crew reflect on their journey to tell a new story with iconic Star Wars characters Obi-Wan Kenobi, Darth Vader and Princess Leia, while introducing new heroes and villains into the saga along the way.

Complete with visits to the creature shop, props department and more, Obi-Wan Kenobi: A Jedi’s Return features the side of filmmaking that makes Star Wars so unique - the respect and passion for the generation-spanning legacy and the beloved characters.

Needless to say, we have a feeling this will be a must-watch, especially if the trailer is anything to go by. In the sneak peek below, we see how a variety of scenes were shot, with Christensen at one point embracing Chow while in full makeup as the horribly scarred Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader.

We really hope that the final battle between Obi-Wan and Vader receives its fair share of attention here, because it really was outstanding. Either way, September 8 can't get here soon enough, and it looks like the streaming giant is pulling out all the stops for what promises to be an exciting Disney+ Day.

On another topic

Trying to stay enthusiastic about WBD, even after Young Justice’s cancelations, hoping for a case of “the night is darkest right before the dawn” but now……..

Batman The Caped Crusader is not moving forward at HBOMax, they are now looking for another network or streaming service to pick it up

Hopefully they go to Adult Swim

My Adventures With Superman is already going to Cartoon Network so they do have a foot in the door there

What company wouldnt want both batman and superman on their channel (obviously one for kids and one for adults)

@dracula - isn't Cartoon Network (and so by extent Adult Swim) part of WBD already? Think it's more likely that both move to a channel or service outside of WBD entirely

It's always interesting to see the BTS of what made the show work.

Off-topic: There is speculation that S&L might have found the new actor that will replace Jordan Elsass as Jonathan Kent because both Alex Garfin (who plays Jordan) and the official IG account just began following the account of this person:

@AmazingFILMporg - The show was awesome.

I've seen it 3 times now and as a hardcore Vader fan, all his scenes were perfection and everything that I wanted to see from him since RO.

So no Disney Gallery this time? Not that it matters what name it carries though, since I'll be watching this either way for McGregor and Christensen
