OBI-WAN KENOBI: Hayden Christensen Recalls "Surreal" And "Unique" Opportunity To Return As Darth Vader

Hayden Christensen played Anakin Skywalker in Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith, suiting up as Darth Vader in the latter. Now, he's talked about the experience of returning in Obi-Wan Kenobi.

Darth Vader remains the Star Wars franchise's most popular villain, and we've seen the Sith Lord factor into a lot of different stories these past few years, with cameo appearances in Rogue One, Star Wars Rebels, and The Clone Wars. Now, Hayden Christensen looks set to bring the former Anakin Skywalker fully into the spotlight in Obi-Wan Kenobi

Talking to EW (via SFFGazette.com), the actor said it was "amazing" and a "great honour" to wear Vader's suit again, and went on to say the Disney+ series feels like a natural continuation of Revenge of the Sith. "It was mostly a lot of excitement because I had spent enough time with this character and felt like I knew him, and coming back to it felt very natural in a lot of ways."

"And I was just really excited to get to come in and play Darth Vader at this point in the timeline because it did feel like a natural continuation of your journey with the character," the actor teased. "That was very meaningful. The experience was very surreal. Just the nature of coming back after all this time. It’s such a unique opportunity - one that both Ewan and I were very grateful for."

The site pushed Christensen for details on what fans can expect to see from Vader in the Disney+ series, and while he chose his words carefully, the Star Wars actor still hyped up that rematch.

"I don’t know what I can share in terms of behind-the-scenes type stuff because I don’t think they want me saying too much. But I can tell you the first time that I saw Ewan as Obi-Wan again, that was a very special moment for me and one that I’ll remember for a very, very long time."

Needless to say, we cannot wait to see how this clash plays out because the stage is being set for a truly epic confrontation between these former friends turned foes. Hopefully, the next trailer shows us a little more of Vader, though we'd understand if Lucasfilm would rather keep the villain under wraps for as long as possible.

Obi-Wan Kenobi is set to premiere on Disney+ on May 27.

@dracula - They may have some scenes of him out side the suit, but like maybe in some type of hyperbaric chamber room or something? Maybe something like a larger version of something we saw in TESB?

The hype behind this show is astronomical, bring it on! They still should have debuted on May 4th but oh well, funny how ST Strange Worlds premieres on the 5th lol

@bobevanz - well no, because May 4th is some silly fan day, while the original date it was gonna debut on made perfect sense because it was 45 years to the day since Obi Wan appeared in the original movie...but now its gonna be two days later, it doesn't really matter now, just give us the show already!
