OBI-WAN KENOBI: New Spoilers Revealed About Darth Vader Duel And The Sith's Violent Revenge

The first Obi-Wan Kenobi teaser showed concept art of the Jedi Master battling Darth Vader, and a new report sheds some light on how their first battle plays out...and the Sith Lord's brutal revenge!

Prior to Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker's release, the entire plot of the movie leaked on Reddit. While Lucasfilm's Disney+ TV shows have been a little more secretive, Obi-Wan Kenobi has definitely seen its fair share of story details show up online. The latest leak pertains to the Jedi Master's first battle with Darth Vader, so turn away now if you don't want to know how things play out.

Still here? Well, according to Making Star Wars (via SFFGazette.com), the Sith Lord will take his revenge on Obi-Wan for what happened to him on Mustafar. At the end of their first meeting since Revenge of the Sith, Vader manages to set his former Master's arm on fire, leaving him badly burned and in desperate need of help. O'Shea Jackson's character gets "Ben" to a Bacta Tank with the help of Princess Leia, but it sounds like Obi-Wan will be left with permanent scars from this encounter.

There are other tidbits in the report, including the reveal that Obi-Wan seemingly has to face Vader without his lightsaber and that he may be forced to use one of the Sith Inquisitor's blades at one point.

It's also noted that Leia doesn't trust Obi-Wan when they first meet, and she seemingly has no idea he's a Jedi or the Clone Wars hero she will one day reache out to in A New Hope. Watching how this limited series fills in the gaps between the prequels and the original trilogy looks set to be a highlight of Obi-Wan Kenobi, and this first confrontation with Vader sounds like it has the makings of an epic duel.

Hopefully, the next trailer will show us Darth Vader in action, though we wouldn't be surprised if that's being saved for the show itself (we still don't know if James Earl Jones is returning).

Obi-Wan Kenobi will premiere on Disney+ on May 25.

Obi-Wan encountering Vader before a New Hope is so stupid... But moronic fans will eat it up.

@SirDuckAlot - A lot say this, but no one is yet to actually explain why it is stupid. Between Revenge and ANH all that we actually know is what Vader said to Obi-Wan, “When I left you I was but the learner, but now I am the master”. That could easily be interpreted one of two ways, when he left him and joined Palpatine or literally the last time they saw one another Vader walked away assuming he’d die, just like Obi-Wan walked away. He doesn’t say “Hey bro, been nineteen years, innit, mate. Remember it? You chopped my legs off and barbecued me. Definitely never met since”. So unless you can find anything that states they never ever encountered in nineteen years then cool.

@PhoenixBlade - Obi Wan risking his watching over Luke to play hero is pretty self explanatory.

@SirDuckAlot - So if you were protecting a child and a bunch of people turned up to try and kill you, you wouldn’t divert their attention away from the child? If the objective was to wipe out every Jedi, the Empire would’ve sent people to every single planet. Inquisitors would know exactly who Obi-Wan Kenobi was. There’s less chance he’d have gone unnoticed especially when you consider force sensitives can sense other force sensitives. So it’s not very self explanatory when you can easily poke holes in it.

@SirDuckAlot - Obi-Wan didn't spent 20 years in a desert until Ep IV. He left Tatooine, learned Anakin was still alive, fought him again, on some "damned-fool idealistic crusade". It makes sense.

"He's more machine now, than man. Twisted and evil." When Vader and Kenobi meet on the Death Star they don't seem THAT surprized.

@Yuhio - Last time Obi-Wan saw Anakin he lost all his limbs and what was left get set on fire. He doesn't need to rematch him after Revenge to know Vader is more machine than man and certainly not to know he's evil and twisted. The lack of surprise also doesn't mean anything, Obi-Wan knew he'd have to face Anakin again and resigned himself to it years prior. Vader isn't the stupid youth who backflipped into their fight either, he's bloody furious but he's way more in control of how the anger comes out.

@SirDuckAlot - Reports are saying he leaves Tatooine to draw the empire away from Luke, and to also help protect Leia.

I'm not sure why that is so stupid.

What doesn't make sense to me right now, but might later after watching the show, is how the Empire learns that Kenobi is on Tatooine, but then later in A New Hope they have no idea he's living there. But it could very easily be that the Empire thinks Kenobi is dead by the end of this show and would have no reason to be looking for him anymore in A New Hope.

@PhoenixBlade - "or literally the last time they saw one another Vader walked away assuming he’d die, just like Obi-Wan walked away."

This doesn't make sense to me though. If in A New Hope Vader was referring to this meeting in this show, then why would he call himself "the learner" after defeating Kenobi? Wouldn't defeating Kenobi then make him "the master", meaning he should say, "When I left you I was the master"? Especially considering his new Sith ideals? Sith are all about defeating their masters to then BECOME the master. So it really doesn't make sense to call himself the learner after defeating Kenobi.
PhoenixBlade
PhoenixBlade - 3/25/2022, 12:21 PM
@CorndogBurglar - It’s a good point, but can also be explained by mastery of the dark side opposed to bettering Obi-Wan. Anakin matured a lot as Vader and while power hungry became quite sensible in his quest for power.
CorndogBurglar
CorndogBurglar - 3/25/2022, 2:05 PM
@PhoenixBlade - Yeah but I highly doubt Vader was a Sith master. He was still learning from Palpatine. Palpatine was the Sith master. So even by that logic, if we're talking about his abilities as a Sith, he would still be the learner.
PhoenixBlade
PhoenixBlade - 3/25/2022, 2:20 PM
@CorndogBurglar - There’s levels to mastery. Mastery in certain aspects of the force and mastery of using various lightsaber forms. In ANH Vader was a master of his emotion. Channeling his anger through the force rather than being an emotional wreck. In Revenge he never channeled that anger because he hadn’t learnt a thing in the dark side. He also only had 13 years worth of Jedi training compared to 19 years of Sith training. If he was on the verge of being a Jedi Master at 13 years, then those 13 years as starting base as a Sith would mean after 19 years he’d more than be a master. There’s so many more layers than surface level.

I feel like there’s a line you don’t cross for this Ben Kenobi story between 3-4 and for me personally it moved from ‘just be a western on Tatooine’ to ‘[frick] it, be a galaxy spanning adventure just keep the Vader interaction minimal’ Reading this, it all sounds very fanfiction like to me and doesn’t sound like what could be an extension of George’s story which is unfortunate. Still, it hasn’t come out yet and I love Ewan McGregor so we’ll see.

@THEDARKKNIGHT1939 - I mean, bacta tanks are like the fix all solution to injuries in Star Wars. Always have been. If we had bacta tanks I'd hop in one after just stubbing my toe lol.

The problem with the prequels, sequels and in-betweenquels will always be that the original three movies didn't account for them so the script writers have to shoehorn in certain details that require certain amounts of suspended disbelief in order for them to make sense and in order to enjoy them. Because of this sometimes there will just be aspects of this series that don't exactly line up and we all need to come to terms with this.

@JizzerTron - No we don't. I watch and read because I like stories. If the story doesn't make sense, is not interesting or is derivative and is being created just as content to fill a spot on a streaming service by a worldwide mega-corporation then it's not a good story and I'm not interested. Kenobi has been one of my favorite characters ever created in the last 4,000 years.

@WarMonkey - ok don’t reconcile it then if you think that’s the wiser more logical position that will lead you to feel more peaceful over a situation you don’t control about an imaginary space wizard.

@JizzerTron - All characters in fictional stories are about fake pretend imaginary people created in someone's brain. It's called acting and is used in order to tell a story in a visual environment in entertaining ways.
