OBI-WAN KENOBI Star Ewan McGregor Returns As The Jedi Master For Recent Comic Relief Sketch

Last year's Obi-Wan Kenobi was met with a great response from Star Wars fans, and while we all wait for season 2 news, actor Ewan McGregor recently reprised the role for a funny Comic Relief sketch...

Ewan McGregor finally reprised perhaps his most iconic role in last year's Obi-Wan Kenobi, with the six-part Disney+ series proving a hit with fans and critics alike.

Revealing that "Ben" had met Princess Leia as a child, we followed the Jedi as he once again embraced the Force and faced his friend-turned-enemy, Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader. Obi-Wan emerged victorious from that battle, setting the stage for their eventual rematch in A New Hope (and, hopefully, one more meeting before then).

While fans remain anxious for a second season of Obi-Wan Kenobi, McGregor recently returned as the Jedi Master for a Comic Relief sketch in the UK (via SFFGazette.com). A spin on a reality TV series called The Traitors (which is available on Peacock in the U.S.), it also features The Great British Bake Off's Mary Berry and The Office star Stephen Merchant.

McGregor is clearly having a blast playing Obi-Wan again here, hitting all the familiar beats and even kicking off his return with, "Hello there."

It's all in good fun for a great cause, and we're keeping everything crossed that a second season does eventually happen. The actor will be on hand at Star Wars Celebration early next month for a panel reflecting on that first batch of episodes, so here's hoping an announcement is made in London. We'll be on hand to let you know, anyway!

McGregor first played Obi-Wan Kenobi in 1999's The Phantom Menace, later reprising the role in Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith. While he briefly lent his voice to the sequel trilogy, the actor didn't make his official return until last year.

I am so bummed about Kenobi.

It had potential to be the best SW show ever.

Instead, Andor did that in all aspects - acting, score and production design.

The Volume's use stuck out like a sore thumb in Kenobi and I was recently reminded of it in the Coruscant scenes in Mando's latest episode. They looked so bad, compared to Andor (where it was all a blend between sets and CGI and no Volume use).

I only find myself re-watching the Vader scenes from Kenobi as he was the best aspect by far.

@kylo0607 - I think Andor really stuck out because it used actual existing locations.

As great as the Volume is for lighting and such, existing locations give Andor (and thus Star Wars) a feel of familiarity. Made it look great, because it looked like our world when we go outside.

Disney licences Doctor Who, so the BBC get to licence Obi Wan.
