The third episode of
The Mandalorian is now streaming on Disney+, and is arguably the best installment yet. Full of action, intrigue and emotion, "The Sin" is certain to please both old-school and more modern-day
Star Wars fans alike.
Chapter 3 begins with Mando (Pedro Pascal) dropping "the asset" off to his sinister client (Werner Herzog), who compliments his work and hands over his payment of Bescar steel. The bounty hunter asks what's to become of his adorable quarry, but is quickly reminded that this is a no questions asked type deal.
Mando brings the Bescar to his tribe's underground hideout (it seems they can only leave one at a time to avoid being discovered), and the Armorer melts in down to make some new plates for our hero. Another Mandalorian takes exception to "the coward" having dealings with what was once The Empire and there's a short scuffle before the Armorer makes peace. This is the way.
After returning to Greef Carga (Carl Weathers) for another job, Mando has a change of heart (yay) and decides to rescue Baby Yoda, taking out a whole lot of Stormtroopers in the process. Unfortunately, his actions put a price on his own head, and our mismatched pair find themselves surrounded by other Guild members when they attempt to get back to the ship. Mando makes short work of a lot of 'em, but there are simply too many and he's eventually pinned down. Just when things look bleak, the other Mandalorians show up on rocket-packs (squee) and join the fray, clearing a path to the Razorcrest.
As Mando takes off, Baby Yoda reaches for the metal control ball he was trying to play with in the previous episode, and Mando unscrews it and hands it to him. He's going to make a good dad..
As great as this was, we still didn't get many answers about our little green friend. The Client does tell the doctor to "extract what you need and be done with it," which suggests that they are trying to harness the child's force abilities. Could this somehow be tied in to the return/resurrection of Palpatine many years later? That's pure speculation, but it would be a clever way to tie the events of
The Mandalorian into the main Skywalker Saga.
