THE MANDALORIAN: Will Another Familiar Face Join Ashoka Tano In Season 2 Of The Disney+ Series?

We recently learned that Rosario Dawson will play Ashoka Tano in season two of The Mandalorian, but will she be joined by a familiar face from The Clone Wars and Star Wars Rebels? Read on for details...

Don't get too excited, but there's some buzz doing the rounds online that we could see Clone Captain Rex make an appearance in season two of The Mandalorian. It's based on that fact that producer, writer, and director Dave Filoni has updated his Twitter profile banner with a piece of artwork strikingly similar to what was used in the credits for the show.

As you can see, it depicts an older version as Ashoka Tano (who will be played by Rosario Dawson) alongside Rex, a fan-favourite ally of hers from both The Clone Wars and Star Wars Rebels

If we're not going to see Sabine Wren in the Disney+ series, then it would certainly make sense for Rex to join Ashoka in some capacity and watching him interact with the Mandalorian should be an absolute blast. Honestly, though, of all the familiar faces from the past we expected to see, Sabine would probably be higher up the list given her history with the Darksaber.

Regardless, this is either a coincidence (the artwork could be from any number of places), serious trolling, or a major hint from Filoni about what's to come in The Mandalorian.

Do you guys think we could see Rex enter this live-action series? If so, who should play him?

Who should play him? Well, given that Rex is a clone of Jango Fett, the answer should be Temuera Morrison!

I hope they get at least Dee Bradley Baker back to voice him. Do it Darth Maul style.

Gotta be Temuera Morrison. I love Dee Bradly Baker's Rex. But Morrison is the live action version of that character.

Obviously he’ll be played by Temuera Morrison. How is that even a question?

I gotta be honest, I’m scared about this. I remember the rumors that Ahsoka and Sabine were getting their own animated series that would serve as a sequel to Rebels in the era after ROTJ, and I was looking forward to that.

Personally, Mandalorian season 1 was weak. It had a few really enjoyable episodes, but the finale wasn’t very strong and the first season ended in the exact same place it began, with no significant development for Djinn, other than he took off his helmet once and is now “officially” Baby Yoda’s caregiver. The Darksaber tease at the very end felt like it might be interesting because it would help to explore the Mandalorian’s past even more and give Djinn an actual reason to be in the fight.

Putting Ahsoka in Season 2 has me worried that they’re going to throw out her journey with Sabine and overload the season with her storyline at the expense of anything that actually makes Djinn interesting. It feels like Ahsoka’s a band-aid for a bad show.

I hope I’m wrong.

I know it will be awesome to see, but I still think it's kinda weird that two of the greater characters from the animated series are gonna cross into live-action
