StarWarsNews.net (via SFFGazette.com) has revealed that bounty hunter 4-LOM is set to make an appearance in Obi-Wan Kenobi. You may remember the droid from The Empire Strikes Back, though he's also been showcased in comic books like Star Wars, Darth Vader, and War of the Bounty Hunters, among others.
While he was only a background character in that classic movie, 4-LOM is remembered for being among those hired by Darth Vader to capture Han Solo. Considering this Disney+ series takes place long before the events of Empire, it stands to reason that the droid will survive whatever happens in the show (we're betting he's recruited to help track down any remaining Jedi survivors from Order 66, potentially alongside the Sith Inquisitors).
It's worth noting that 4-LOM has worked for the Hutt Clan, so a cameo on Tatooine is also a strong possibility.
A type of protocol droid, this LOM-series model managed to overcome a flaw in his software to become a bounty hunter. He recently received a Funko Pop as part of a series recreating that iconic scene in The Empire Strikes Back, and Lucasfilm putting the spotlight on him here is likely to be welcomed by longtime fans of the franchise.
Hopefully, the rest of those bounty hunters will also make their presence felt in this Galaxy Far, Far Away moving forward. We're still waiting on Din Djarin to cross paths with the likes of Bossk and Dengar, but his recent team-up with Boba Fett certainly didn't disappoint Star Wars fans.
