After being announced at The CW's upfronts presentation last year, the network has officially unveiled our first look at the eagerly-awaited Supernatural/Scooby-Doo crossover and it looks every bit as awesome as you might've hoped.

Entertainment Weekly revealed that the upcoming episode, which will air on March 29th, will begin when Dean (Jensen Ackles) gets into a wrestling match with a stuffed dinosaur that's come to life. (yes, really.) After taking down the dino, Dean gets a free television as a gift from a grateful pawnshop owner and when he sets it up in the bunker, in his "Dean Cave," the Winchester brothers and Castiel (Misha Collins) find themselves sucked into a classic Scooby-Doo cartoon where they promptly meet Fred, Daphne, Velma, Shaggy, and Scooby.

Co-showrunner Robert Singer teases, "Once they get over their amazement at being in the cartoon, two things happen. They say, ’We’ve been in a situation like this before with the Trickster and I think we’re supposed to play this out.’ And then they realize they’re in a Scooby-Doo cartoon, which makes Dean incredibly excited because Scooby-Doo was his favorite cartoon growing up.” With that in mind, Dean will use his extensive Scooby knowledge to help lead Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Cas back home.

He'll quickly determine that they've arrived in the "A Night of Fright Is No Delight" episode from Scooby-Doo, Where Are You!, but the trio will soon realize that the episode isn't exactly playing out like it did in 1970 as there's an actual Supernatural-level monster on the loose, not just a man in a mask. Singer and fellow co-showrunner Andrew Dabb add, "It gets pretty dark. There are things you wouldn’t see in a regular Scooby-Doo cartoon. They walk into an old episode of Scooby-Doo. But it may end up being a new episode of Supernatural.

On a lighter note, there will be one character that Dean is especially excited to meet: Daphne Blake, who is unsurprisingly his boyhood crush. “Dean came of age in a time before the internet when Daphne wasn’t so bad. Dean has very strong opinions on all the Scooby characters, but especially Daphne and Fred.

We don't have confirmation just yet on the Scooby-Doo voice actors, but we can probably assume that Frank Welker, Grey DeLisle, Kate Micucci, and Matthew Lillard will reprise their roles as the Mystery Inc. gang.

JINKIES! "SUPERNATURAL" GETS ANIMATED WHEN SAM, DEAN AND CASTIEL ARE TRANSPORTED INTO THE WORLD OF SCOOBY DOO - Sam (Jared Padalecki), Dean (Jensen Ackles) and Castiel (Misha Collins) are transported into the animated world of Scooby Doo where they join forces with the Scooby gang to solve a ghostly mystery. Robert Singer directed the episode written by Jim Krieg & Jeremy Adams (#1316). Original airdate 3/29/2018.

The exciting journey of the Winchester brothers continues as SUPERNATURAL enters its thirteenth season. In the show’s twelfth season, the Winchesters were reunited with their long-dead mother and joined forces with the British arm of the Men of Letters. But things turned from bad to worse, with the return of Lucifer and the surprising revelation that the Devil is expecting a child. Now, Sam and Dean find themselves facing a creature of almost unimaginable power… one that could save the world… or destroy it.

I've loved this show since the beginning and still do. I can't wait to see this insanity of an episode. It has to be e something to do with the Trickster, or A trickster. That's the only logical explanation for something like this.

@BSingerFoxMen - it could also be jack, he has the power to do that and was seen watching scooby earlier this season.

Is this show worth a shit on any level?

From the outside it looks like The Legend of Dawson's Boggy Creek.

If the Ghosts of Jonathan Winters and Don Knotts were showing up, I'd tune in for sure.

@Batmangina - Oh my yes, it's pretty amazing. I would go so far as to say that its first five seasons tell one of the greatest long-form stories ever on television, second only in my opinion to DS9. It's gone through some ups and downs since then, but the last four seasons or so have been consistently great too.

This crossover would have been far better served had it happened during the Mystery Incorporated series. The tone of that series was born out of shows like Supernatural.
