VENOM Managed To Top WONDER WOMAN's Trailer Views In Its First 24 Hours Online

Despite the negativity surrounding the teaser for Venom, the symbiote being unveiled in the first trailer received a much better response and it appears as if it generated a fair bit of interest online.

The teaser trailer for Venom received an overwhelmingly negative response, especially as it didn't include a single scene featuring Eddie Brock suited up as the titular anti-hero. Instead, it looked like a generic action movie which might as well have been titled "Eddie Brock: The Movie." However, it appears as if the arrival of the symbiote (pictured above) changed things as trailer views were solid.

According to a new report, the Marvel Comics adaptation amassed over 64.3 million views in its first 24 hours online. It debuted at CinemaCon before being released and these numbers are particularly surprising considering the fact a low-res version leaked online hours beforehand. As of right now, the Venom trailer sits at 124.7 million views, a number which Sony is no doubt extremely happy with.

Interestingly, the second Venom trailer's views were up by 72% over the teaser and it actually managed to top the Wonder Woman trailer during that first day online (the DC Comics character had already appeared in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and is far more iconic than Venom). "Positive conversation" about the movie was up by 46%, while "negative conversation" went down 63%.

Ugh. I hear theater goers responded VERY well to this. I hate you, Sony.

@Luminus - Don't worry Venom is a fan favorite Character so Sony desperately needs Fans to back this film.

Low RT and poor word of mouth are going to bury this film after opening weekend.

@Mattygrand - It's already bad. It's just harder for some people to pick up on the red flags than it is for others.

@Luminus - mine was quiet and people were mumbling when it was done. heard some not so good remarks from people sitting near me. I personally will wait to watch this when it comes out on blu-ray

@Mattygrand - Only people who are ignorant of Sony's track record would call reluctance of this film after watching a trailer that proves what they've already suspected bias.

I'll just call it common sense and leave it at that.

It's because of the great trailer thumbnail. I can't see it and not click it. It's like some magnetic force. I see Venom, I click.

My mom and I got this trailer in front of Infinity War, and that was the one trailer we got where once it was over she turned to me and just said "No".

The trailer, and Hardy's performance were much more cliche than I was told it was going to be.

The R rating doesn't do all the work man.

@Kurne - I agree about the trailer, but hardy s performance looks amazing. Him and venom himself are the only things that are interesting this movie.

To be honest though, i don't thing anybody cares about the rest of the trailer. I suspect most people skip to the end to see Venom.

Will watch for Hardys awful American accent and to see how they explain the symbols, if he swings, and deeeep down hoping for it to be amazing and part of the MCU
