Producer Wyck Godfrey confirmed that he's working on it with Underworld and Live Free or Die Hard director Len Wiseman for Legendary Pictures and New Line Cinema.

"The hard part is to make it into something that doesn't feel like a world torn asunder and people just in battle. I think we really want to focus on the idea of a world that's running well and then it's Emergence Day. Kind of make it impactful and immediate and like what those 48 hours are as people survive Emergence Day," said Godfrey. "It's more like Cloverfield or something like that because trying to tell the epic story of an alien planet that's living in a horrific environment just feels like the wrong mood right now."

The script for the Gears of War movie is currently being rewrote by Billy Ray.

Like any comic book/video game related movie this could be epic or a epic failure. But i for one would like this to be epic. Love the game. Nice find tyko

I loved these games and can't wait for the next one but this movie has to have hope. Have you read what they are doing to halo its horrible. All we can do is hope people who care about GoW make this movie.

woah there now halo has its place in video games history, but Gears of War doesnt beat it. LIke first Halo beast first gears, hech even halo 2 beast the first but gears 2 deff beat halo 3 and any continued crap made by bungie afterwards. U know what would be sweet MODERN WARFARE MOVIE LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL

I'd have high hopes, but I had high hopes for Max Payne too.

Totally down with the idea of it taking place around emergence day. That concept I think would be awesome. Everything nice and peaceful and the BOOM all hell literally breaks loose. I love alien invasion type movies.

well that description doesn't sound good. its the beginning of the war?? whats wrong with throwing us into the shit?? every alien type movie starts like that. lets just start right in the middle of the war.
