Marvel has recently been stepping back into the realm of video games, more specifically into multiplatform console releases. In the past years they've announced a two Guardians of the Galaxy games, one a smaller adventure game from Telltale and the other a triple-A release from Eidos Montreal, a PS4-exclusive Spider-Man game, a Square Enix Avengers project, and the revival of the Marvel vs Capcom franchise in the form of Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite. And now it seems there is a chance another new face may step into the ring in the form of an old favorite of Marvel fans: Ultimate Alliance.
According to the
United States Patent and Trademark Office, Marvel has recently registered or renewed several trademarks related to the Ultimate Alliance IP. While some may speculate this is related to the recent release of the remaster of the first two games for current-gen platforms last year, several of the trademarks have had activity as recently as earlier this month. In addition, in an interview with Marvel.com announcing the release, executive producer Mike Jones teased the
possibility of a future installment being in the works. As to whether or not this speculation is true, it seems fans may have until E3 later this summer to see if a third installment, or possibly a reboot, is on the horizon for the long-dormant video game franchise.
So what do you think? Is there a chance one of Marvel's best gaming franchises making a return, or is it too good to be true? Is there another game you would like to see Marvel develop as they return to the major gaming arena? Leave your thoughts in the comments below!
