Christmas is right around the corner, and Sony Pictures just dropped a last-minute surprise in the form of a new trailer for Uncharted. We learn a little more about the movie's plot and see some high-stakes action that definitely feels like it's paying homage to Naughty Dog's video game series.

Most of the trailer is dedicated to Nathan Drake and Sully's dynamic, and it's fair to say Spider-Man: No Way Home star Tom Holland and Mark Wahlberg do have a bit of chemistry. Plus, in an apparent bid to appease fans convinced Wahlberg is just delivering one of his cookie-cutter action hero roles, there's a shot of him rocking Sully's moustache and showing a little more attitude.

We'll see if he's able to pull it off, but Uncharted does have the makings of a fun blockbuster. Holland is clearly on top form, anyway, and looks to be proving any doubters wrong when it comes to whether he's a good fit for Nate.

"Street-smart thief Nathan Drake is recruited by seasoned treasure hunter Victor "Sully" Sullivan to recover a fortune lost by Ferdinand Magellan 500 years ago," reveals the new synopsis. "What starts as a heist job for the duo becomes a globe-trotting, white-knuckle race to reach the prize before the ruthless Moncada, who believes he and his family are the rightful heirs. If Nate and Sully can decipher the clues and solve one of the world’s oldest mysteries, they stand to find $5 billion in treasure and perhaps even Nate’s long-lost brother...but only if they can learn to work together."

Directed by Ruben Fleischer from a screenplay by Rafe Judkins and Art Marcum & Matt Holloway, the movie stars Tom Holland, Mark Wahlberg, Sophia Ali, Tati Gabrielle, and Antonio Banderas.

Uncharted is set to arrive in theaters on February 18. In the UK, it arrives a little sooner on February 11.

This is has to be one of the worst castings in Hollywood in a long time. Tom Holland is a midget and he has a baby face, he’s extremely skinny/scrawny as well.

They would have been better off casting Whoopi Goldberg as Nathan Drake.

@TopBoy - I don’t know anything about the character and the dude is certainly short with a baby face, but he’s not scrawny. He’s actually ripped. I’m not saying he’s a mass monster or anything but if he keeps it up he can get to Jackman levels

Of height? Hmm. Intriguing. Yes. Hugh Jackman for Spiderman

@TopBoy - I would pay some good money to see Whoopi Goldberg on a treasure hunt adventure

@TopBoy - Definitely looks too young to be Drake but as far as brawn goes he’s not any scrawnier. The character isn’t exactly supposed to be built like a wall or something.

@TopBoy - at first i was really put off by the casting of Tom Holland AND Mark Wahlberg. But if they want this to be a multi-film franchise (tent pole, ip), and they most certainly do, it makes sense to go with a younger cast. And Tom Holland's look isn't too far off from Drake's look in Thief's End. But yeah, it is a bit odd. I'd agree with Cuban though that Holland certainly not scrawny. I think he was an acrobat or dancer before being cast as Spiderman.

@musicsuperhero1 - They won’t have a “multi-film franchise” if the first movie fails.

@TopBoy - this is very true and i agree. i was simply saying i think that that is likely the studio's "logic" (or what passes as such) behind the casting choices.

@musicsuperhero1 - Oh then you’re right. That’s probably what Sony was thinking.

At the very least, it looks like a fun adventure romp like the games.

I like Holland for the younger take, but still not a fan of Mark as Sully. I'm sure i'll have a good time seeing it.

My dream casting for Drake was always Chris Evans though.

He would have absolutely NAILED the mannerisms of him.

Sony back at it spoiling the biggest action pieces in trailers.

Anyway, nice to see Mark rock the 'stache and Tom getting to do some more Spider-Man-ing about

It looks alright? The helicopter pulling the ships through the air just makes no sense on so many level though, straight out of a fast and furious movie.

Meh. Holland just looks too young for Drake. Not to mention he just doesn't have the rugged badass charm Nate is known.

Is this a prequel? Hollywood has a weird thing with making established adult characters young. Yes they like them young :/

I bet that mustache bit is the last thing in the movie. Sony was desperate to appease the people who wouldn't let it go.

Anyway, I liked this trailer way more than the first one, but they did show A LOT.

I think this could be a lot of fun. Maybe what Indiana Jones KotCS should've been? Maybe i shouldn't get ahead of myself. LOL.

It kind of makes sense that they'd go with a younger cast for the main leads if they want this to be a multi-picture franchise.

And it's not entirely unheard-of....Thief's End depicts a young Drake and Sully.

Nice of Sony to cram the whole movie into a 2 and a half minute trailer, nobody does it better than them. At this rate, it will be another decade before we start getting consistent good movies from videogame movies, this looks like another just ok video game movie.
