Per VG247, a new Batman: Arkham Origins multiplayer mode will launch on Tuesday, December 17. This new mode pits three of Bane's thugs against three thugs from Joker's crew and then drops Batman into the mix to see if he can take them all down. In this 3vs3vs1 setup, there are no respawns. Take a look at a few screenshots below.

GAME INFO:
-Batman: Arkham Origins is a prequel story set during Batman's Second Year of crime-fighting. The story takes place on the night of Christmas Eve.

-Game developers have said that Batman is experienced but he's not the veteran crime-fighter from the first two games in the Batman: Arkham series. With the story taking place early in his career the Gotham City Police Department aren't quite sure what to make of Batman. And up till Christmas Eve, the Caped Crusader has only faced normal thugs and criminals. That all changes when Deathsroke the Terminator comes to town leading a band of mercenaries that have all been hired to kill the Batman.

-The game will include a fast travel system where Batman can summon his plane, the Batwing, to transport him to other areas of the game world quicker than gliding or grappling can allow.

-RockSteady makers of the first two video games in the Batman: Arkham series did not return for the prequel. WB Games Montréal took over developer duties but used the same modified gaming engine that their predecessor used.

- Paul Dini of Batman: The Animated Series fame also did not return as writer. The story is written by Dooma Wendschuch and Corey May who had input from Geoff Johns.

-Joker will be voiced by Troy Baker, not Mark Hamill. Batman will be voiced by Roger Craig Smith, not Kevin Conroy.

-There are unconfirmed rumors of multiplayer at this time.

- The soundtrack for the game was inspired by the 1988 action film Die Hard which also had a Christmas theme.

- Pre-order DLC will allow gamers to play as Deathstroke.

-Batman: Arkham Origins will be released October 25, 2013.

"Developed by WB Games Montréal, Batman: Arkham Origins features an expanded Gotham City and introduces an original prequel storyline set several years before the events of Batman: Arkham Asylum and Batman: Arkham City, the first two critically acclaimed games of the franchise. Taking place before the rise of Gotham City’s most dangerous criminals, the game showcases a young and unrefined Batman as he faces a defining moment in his early career as a crime fighter that sets his path to becoming the Dark Knight. As the story unfolds, players will meet many important characters for the first time and forge key relationships."

I will say this. The multiplayer is very entertaining, BUT when it first released the servers were terrible. Game was very glitchy and would freeze up your PS3. Finding a game with 8 members could literally take an hour and a half just to find one game.

However, since the first patch the multiplayer has drastically improved. It doesn't take near as long to find a match (15 minutes), still a little glitchy when trying to join a match.

Have not played after second patch.

Multiplayer pissed me off too much with this game especially as am bit of a trophy hunter, but yh, probably worse than Tomb Raider multiplayer... Story still solid though, just finishing up with the Dark Knight challenges now.

Why is this article even here? One, this isn't a dlc. And two, it's something that's been around since the game came out. Take this article down..

You get one life. No respawns. Thats what it says. Sorta like Search and destroy for Call of Duty and Defuse for Battlefield. Thats new to me. Thanks for the article. I haven't started the multiplayer yet but I enjoy these types of game modes. People don't play as recklessly. More fun and intense.

The online multiplayer in this game is so terrible that it is difficult to put into words how bad it is. Seriously, the worst multiplayer experience of any game I have ever played. No exaggeration.

i don't mind the multiplayer its fun but it can seriously take me close to 45 mins to find a game on 360. you have to rely on people who float in an out of rooms to send you an invite. can wee just agree that what we really want is a local multiplayer with batman and robin. I already miss playing as nightwing and catwoman from AC

Will it let you join a session if there's only a couple people? Or does it require eight to seven people depending on the game type? I'm gonna try it tonight I think.

you have to have exactly 8 people.

It should have a minimum requirement of 5. 2vs2vs1. Of course if you got to join into a session that was already going, one more person would significantly alter the balance. Its not as noticeable in games with 16 to 24 people playing. But with 3vs3vs2 I can see it being a problem.

I never messed with online. I think it would be better if you played as batman, Robin, or the rouges, not the hench man.

I tried the multiplayer about a week after the games release. I died like 5 times in under two minutes. Maybe I'll get on again someday.
