What DC Universe Online Could Do Better!

DC Universe Online is one of the greatest games I've ever played these are somethings I think would make it even better.

Before I say anything else, I think DC Universe Online is one of the most fun games ever. This is just an article to give DC some ideas on what they could do to make it even better.

Health
I don't mind the health bar, I just would like an upgrade. Yes, you can buy healing packets which I don't mind either but I would like to be able to buy a health upgrade after a while. This would be nice because I've found that sometimes even running at a speedster speed with full health sometimes a enemy will drain all of your health in like 3 seconds time with you not being able to block fight them off or run away in time. This gets VERY annoying.

Random Crime
There is a fair amount of random crime but I felt that there might not be enough. Also I think they should give you a rewards for this like gold. This would be another way of making money without going on quests.

Mugging
Hey, if you're going to be evil lets go all the way. I personally think that if you choose to be evil, you should be able to mug random people and get money for it, like you took their wallet.

Better Ways To Show If You Are Evil Or Good
I personally am not a fan in the character create of just choosing, "Hey I'm good." Or, "Hey, I'm bad." I would like something a bit different. I think your actions should define weather you are good or bad. If you just go around smashing cars for no reason or something, I would say that was bad etc. I think in the game you should have the choice of weather to stay on the good side or choose the bad side. This would make the game teach morals in a lot of ways as you would have to choose to either mug a person or fight of the mugger. This would also help with player vs player type things. Say one evil player mugs a person and a good player fights them off. That would be a really interesting part of the game. Also you could have the evil person fined if caught and have their mentor (I would let you choose both good and evil mentors so you would have to decide between them) tell them they were disappointed or proud of them depending on the path the player takes.

More worlds
In the paid version it seems there is Oa to explore, sadly I'm having to stick with the free version (but that doesn't mean that there isn't a LOT to explore). Still, I would like to let you explore Themyscira, it would be simple enough to explain Brainiac attacked them too so they decided to let outsiders in. I would also like Central City to be added to DCUO.

Brainiac
I would like another main villain than Brainiac. Yes, I wouldn't mind him for a few more months or so but still I think they should perhaps do something else soon. I can think of a great final. Since his robots can't defeat Earth, Brainiac comes to earth himself to subdue the humans. An epic battle would go on for weeks and finally he would be beaten by a player who struck the last blow. All players would earn heavy rewards for fighting him and the player that struck the final blow would earn a special prize, being able to have a free play for all of the game now and continuing.

Still Shots
I would like to be able to take still shots within the game, for instance you fly up to the top of the city and look down. I would like to be able to screen capture my character then. This would be a nice inbuilt feature so that you didn't have all your icons in the way.

Well, I think that's about it. What do you think of my thoughts? Good, bad? Have you got ideas of your own? Be sure to tell me in the comments below!

Great write up, @superotherside. Haven't played the game yet, but it looks pretty sweet. :)

Stay EPIC, my friends!

I wouldn't exactly call it one of the greatest games I've ever played, but then again it is the first MMO I've played so I can't really compare it with the heavy hitters like WoW and The Old Republic but it's a pretty fun time waster and I agree these changes would make the game better. I'm hoping that the upcoming Marvel MMO is f2p like this is now and takes the elements that work in this game and refine them.

More Worlds part: the only extra world in the game is Central City, the rest are just normal alerts/raids/duo linear levels.

Brainiac: Buy the latest DLC (Battle for earth) or get legendary membership and you get access to the mission where you fight against Brainiac.

Random Crimes: I agree, but there is a sidequest mission you get once you reach lvl 30 that gives you $125 (I know, it's nothing) for stopping 5 crimes.

Still shots: AFAIK there is a screenshot button that removes the HUD on the screencaps?

Champion-Online is way, waaay better than DC Universe Online in my opinion. City of Heroes is also a better MMO than DCUO.

TimL Thanks, actually I didn't know all of that. I'm still a pretty new player, I've only leveled up to I think 8 or so... so yeah. But could you explain some of what you meant by these:

More Worlds: So Central City is built in a paying version? Also there are missions you get to go to Themyscira?

Random Crimes: That's good to know but I want more just like you. Like Spider-man 2 for each player. :)

Still Shots: I did not know that... lol.

Nice write up. I like the thing about choosing sides and having morals. I've been playing since it first came out last year. I really want new stances (standing, flying, running, acrobatics) Someone had a good idea of having your personality type influence your travel style. Serious: Flying, arms down by your sides. Comical: Flying, random waving to the crowd, etc..

JDUKE25 Thanks. That's a good idea.

NotThatGuy Yeah they should. Although you can play it on PC as well that's what I'm doing. :)

dc universe online is too much the same ole same ole.

how many times do we have carry spheres to a special marker?

once you've created a character its pretty much the same shit for good or bad.

i brought this game a month after release & paid £10 a month to play it,once you reached level 30 it was pretty much game over.

i stopped playing when it became free to play in less than a year,an insult to people paying to play it & then everyone jumped on when it was free.

where were you in the begining when it was finding it hard to find players.

Anytime an mmo goes free-to-play, it means the game sucks and only a select few find enjoyment in it. I know because I;ve played countless MMORPG's in the past decade. I knew from the limited powersets that this one wouldn't last long. If Star Wars doesn't do something and I mean FAST they'll be going the same route. Agree or not, matter's little in the face of perpetual success, Warcraft is and will stay the king of MMO's.

It's sad though because I've been dieing for a good superhero based MMO. Guess I'll be waiting a while longer.

I would just like to find out where on the main screen the option is to go free to play so it can stop charging my credit card.
