Last October, we learned that Paramount Pictures had acquired the movie rights for
Sonic the Hedgehog, the anthropomorphic blue protagonist of Sega's game series.
Sonic will be yet another Paramount attempt at adapting a Japanese property after the controversial
Ghost in the Shell with Scarlett Johansson. The first (and pretty good)
Sonic the Hedgehog: The Movie was released in 1996.
Yesterday at CinemaCon 2018, we got our very first look at the title logo of the upcoming movie. The placeholder logo was revealed by OmegaUnderground's Caleb Williams and I'm more than happy to report that at least the movie's logo embraces its source material. Every fan of
Sonic should instantly recognize gold lettering in the “
Sonic” name and blue letters for “
The Hedgehog" part.
Sonic the Hedgehog will mix CG and live-action characters and it is the first entry to a planned film series. The screenplay is being written by Patrick Casey and Josh Miller (
Transylmania, 12 Deadly Days) and Tim Miller (
Deadpool, Terminator 2019) is producing the flick. Jeff Fowler
(Gopher Broke, Where the Wild Things Are) is set to direct the movie. Be sure to check out the logos down below:
Sonic the Hedgehog is expected to hit theaters on November 15, 2019.
