Gal Gadot Says WONDER WOMAN Needed A Female Director; It's 'A Different Experience'

Back when the Wonder Woman movie was still in the process of finding a director, Michelle McLaren was considered but after creative differences the studio settled on Patty Jenkins. But what if a male director took on the project and would that be better? No, of course not. It's important that a female director is the one to direct the Amazon Princess in her first solo film venture. You don't need a lash of truth to know that. Gal Gadot talked to EW about the director and much more.

"All my life I’ve been working with male directors which I’ve really enjoyed,” she said. “And I’m lucky in that I’ve worked with men who have a lot of respect for women. But working with a woman is a different experience. It feels like the communication is different. We talk about emotions. With Patty, it’s a thing now, we communicate with our eyes. She doesn’t need to say a thing. If I’m hurt, she feels the pain. It’s a whole different connection that I have with her. She’s also brilliant, she’s bright, she’s fierce, she’s sharp. She knows exactly what she wants Wonder Woman to be.

Gadot also talked about how the character is relatable: “It’s very easy to relate to her,” Gadot said. “She has the heart of a human so she can be emotional, she’s curious, she’s compassionate, she loves people. And then she has the powers of a goddess. She’s all for good, she fights for good, she believes in great. I want to be her. And in Wonder Woman, she has this naiveté in her. It isn’t stupid, it’s magical. I would want to be naïve like that again"

What do you think? Do you agree that Wonder Woman needed a female director? Leave your thoughts below.

Wonder Woman hits theaters June 23rd, 2017.

I like the look of the film from what little we've seen but the action has me worried. Could be the special effects arent done or really there at all yet but it should take WW like 3 seconds to take out some Germans and the fighting leaves a bit to be desired. Still really pumped for this tho!

Couldnt care less if its a female directing it but i could see where it could give her insight into how the character/actor thinks.

I dont think having a female director changes the movie. But i can see how a female director can change the relationship between the Director and Actor. Especially if they talk about different things and they work towards the same filmmaking goals at a different level.

Well...
I don't think it matters who directs as long as they have the right credibility. You shouldn't go out of your way to find a certain gendered director just because of gender, simply find the best PERSON for the job.
