Jaimie Alexander Was Approached To Play Wonder Woman, Wanted A Shot At Superman

In an interview with Filmcritic.com, Jaimie Alexander continues to show her geek cred by discussing some of her favorite comic characters. She speaks a little about Wonder Woman(she didn't sound like she's a big fan!) and reveals that she has been approached to play the character, as well as seeking out a role in Zack Snyder's Superman reboot..

..look, if I got approached to play Wonder Woman, which has happened once or twice, I would have to say, "Look, let's take this serious. Let's make her a positive role model. Let's make this a non-campy version of her." Because I haven't seen that done yet. Yet that's essentially what I got to do with Sif in Thor. I got the best of both worlds.

Q: You say you were approached to play Wonder Woman. Did you go after roles in any other superhero franchises?

A: I was cast in Thor back in 2009, so it sort of took me out of the running for anything tied to DC Comics. They wouldn't even see me for Superman or any of that stuff. Which is completely fine. I understand that. But I keep trying. I'm sitting around the Marvel offices telling guys, "So listen, if you are going to make an X-23 movie and you need someone to do it, I'm available."

Reiterating her desire to play X-23 there too. They wouldn't see her for Superman? Pretty shocking, WB didn't seem to have a problem casting Ryan Reynolds as Green Lantern when he had already played "Deadpool" , a Marvel character. This girl is passionate about these characters and knows her stuff, not to mention a very solid actress. I wouldn't have a problem seeing her play more CBM roles, how about you? Do you think she would have made a good Wonder Woman had she been interested?

Spider-Woman comes to mind, Jamie!

I would have loved to see her as either Wonder Woman or Faora. They both have gone toe-to-toe with Supes in the past. This is why DC hasn't been doing good with the big screen lately, except with "The Dark Knight". It's like they don't know what to do.

Is this the same Wonder Woman as the TV show?

I reckon she was up for the show, and probably approached for one of the failed movie attempts too.

I know DC and Warner Bros. get off on setting themselves up for failure(a movie for Jonah Hex before The Flash???) but this chick is PERFECT for Wonder Woman. They shouldn't pass on her especially if she wants to do it.

But if they did that they wouldn't be setting themselves up for failure and obviously that is a MUST with Warner Bros. DC properties.

quick is definitely the key... like pasta, they will continue to cook after being removed from the water, so the idea is to wait just long enough to heat them up inside. then drain them before they lose their color.

I wouldnt mind that Jamie played every role in CBMs... Her and Olivia Wilde... But she would have been too perfect for WW, but I dont think she is too keen on doing any more TV shows right now. Thats probably why she passed on it.

She obviously didn't watch the 70's series. Lynda Carter did a wonderful job portraying Wonder Woman as a positive role model and still does to this day. I'm a bit offended by her ignorance.

Alright I'm going to just say it....wonder woman is a lame character, every movie & every tv show staring her is going to be lame... Her costume = lame bathing suit, golden lasso = lame weapon....everything about her is dull even in comics, her character was never evolved or given anything deep, something with her comes out and we (including me) say "oh cool, wonder woman!, this has promise!" and then realize oh wait she is really boring and corny...DC seems content to keep her as "the girl"...hell in 60 years i'm not sure anyone knows her arch nemesis... Batman - Joker, Superman - Lex Luther, wonder woman - Camel toe?....ZZZZzzzz snore

JULEZ13 - 5/4/2011, 9:54 AM
lol @ WakeUp: You are completely right about that. Someone desperately needs to reinvent her for this century.

It seems like Jaime Alexander would have taken the role if they were going to do it right. But since the TV Show sounds so ridiculous she turned it down.

I wouldn't mind her playing WW on TV, but when it comes to a movie, I'd have to pass. I want a voluptuous Wonder Woman to represent what a real woman should look like. Like someone said above, WW needs to have big boobs. lol

Magic 8, did you read the article? It's their reasons for not seeing her(because she was involved with Marvel) that are shocking, considering WB clearly have a double standard on that.
CherryBomb
CherryBomb - 5/4/2011, 10:29 AM
@Gunsmith ... Yeah, Summer for X23's mom maybe .. but she is way too old!

Like I've said before .. Daveigh Chase

I like Jaimie, I think she just has a general comic-book look with the dark hair and broad facial features (: so yeah, Huntress would be a good role for her.
naterator
naterator - 5/4/2011, 10:44 AM
yes she would have made a good wonderwoman....but now she cant be touched....shes already been part of a CBM of the same likeness as Wonder woman would be...it would be too awkward......."wait wasnt she bad in THOR?" wouldnt work.

@113 I totally agree
she would've been a great, fiesty Lois Lane
instead of the old-aged Amy Adams .... that is the worst casting in comic-movie history IMO
