Toxic fandoms are, sadly, nothing new but DC and Star Wars fans remain perhaps the most divided. While DC Studios' DCU plans were cause for celebration among many, some #RestoreTheSnyderCut supporters are finding it hard to move on.
That's led to them embracing anything even remotely negative about those reboot plans, including a blatantly bogus "rumour" (shared by a parody account) stating that adult film star Johnny Sins has been cast as Superman: Legacy's Lex Luthor.
Yes, there really are those who believe the bald-headed, er, lothario is going to play this villain in the 2025 movie, and DC Studios co-CEO James Gunn recently took to Twitter to debunk these wild theories.
This has, however, led to fans questioning why the filmmaker and executive still hasn't commented on what's going on with Gal Gadot's Wonder Woman.
In interviews recorded shortly before the SAG-AFTRA strike began, the actress suggested plans were in place for her to reprise the role of Diana Prince under DC Studios' watch. A firm denial was then published in the trades, making a liar out of Gadot at a time she's unable to respond.
The prevailing theory is Warner Bros. and DC Studios were the inside sources debunking Gadot's Wonder Woman claims, though fans continue asking Gunn for clarification on whether her interpretation of the character has a place in the DCU.
He's remaining silent, though, despite telling a fan on Threads that, "Actors and writers aren’t promoting their movies - this doesn’t apply to studio heads, directors or producers." There go the theories he's unable to address this Wonder Woman news, anyway.
We'll let you know if and when the co-CEO decides to comment on these conflicting reports about Wonder Woman's big screen future. Gunn has, however, given the thumbs up to a comic it's believed will inspire Max's Themyscira TV series...
