Wonder Woman 1984 recently crossed the $100 million mark at the worldwide box office, but Patty Jenkins' DC sequel has (unsurprisingly) failed to make much of an impact domestically.

Though the movie again claimed the #1 spot during its second weekend on release, Diana's new solo adventure only took in $5.5 million, bringing its domestic total to $28.5M. This marks a 67% decline from the film’s $16.7 million opening weekend. Though the pandemic can obviously be blamed for this drop, a more negative second wave of reviews (the movie dipped from 89% certified fresh on RT to a current 60%) and a decidedly mixed reaction from fans may have also played a part.

Globally, WW84 now sits at $118 million. Analysts believe its final BO tally will be considerably less than Christopher Nolan's Tenet, which may result in further delays for Warner Bros.' 2021 slate, or a complete rethink of the current release strategy.

In related news, glitches on HBO Max - specifically on the Roku device - continue, with many viewers encountering problems as they attempt to watch the film.

I wish this movie was better.
I watched it again hoping I’d love it more, fell asleep.

@Cbmfilmjunkie -

Me trying to make myself invisible due to the sheer embarrassment of recommending the family watch this film.

Hey, it worked for Diana when the plot suddenly demanded it! 🤷

@Humperdink -

Remember when the early reviews came out and everyone was like "you see, the screen-testers were wrong?" I was like "well heck, maybe they were..."

No. They were right. This was incomprehensibly bad. My wife literally walked out of the room and never came back.

I hope Patty Jenkins isn't writing her next movie. 🥴

@Humperdink - We know for an actual fact that WB sends e-mails out quietly threatening/asking nicely for the reviews to be kind to DC films for at least the opening weekend.

(There was that e-mail that leaked before Aquaman opened)

So we can't ever trust early reviews on DC movies. They will always be overly kind/utter bullshit.

@GwenLantern - I don't know if that email story is real or not, never even heard of that until now, but in recent years, I remember 4 movies that had fantastic reviews and a certified fresh on RT in the opening weekend and then have the RT score drop like a rock in the in the following days. Those movies were Aquaman, Joker, It Chapter 2 and now WW84. All of them WB movies. Coincidence maybe?

@Moriakum - Good eye. It's probably true.

@GwenLantern - Sorry but I don't trust early negative reviews either. Heck, I don't trust critics in general.

This felt like a movie made for streaming at home. I can’t believe they thought this script was ready/strong enough for a theatrical release.

I think the glitch was the movie actually playing for most viewers, lol

But... but... WW3 already has the green light w/ the same crew! Hollywood is so full of shit, even more so during a pandemic.

@TheHitchhikingGhost - Hopefully for the 3rd they find a good middle ground between 1 and 2. There are a few things the second film did better than the first.

@TheHitchhikingGhost - Why would it not be greenlit?

@dracula - this... I hope for.

@WakandanQueen - Show me the measure of financial success that would warrant the next one. That’s what gets sequels green lit. It flopped in China, it’s doing crap business stateside (understandably), and it’s critically teetering on failure as well. There would have to be an incredible financial backend on the streaming side for this to make any sense to pursue more.

@TheHitchhikingGhost - Patty Jenkins is not Zack Snyder so they are not gonna make a sequel to a failed movie.

@WakandanQueen - no, I guarantee you it will be green lit, I’m just not sure why.

The scenes with just Steve and Diana were good, there were just too many of them. Kind of wish Barbara had been with them from the beginning. Give them someone to play off of before she turns on them. Also maybe instead of her just wanting to keep her powers and then wishing to become a monster, maybe the first wish causes her to slowly loose her humanity and slowly become the Cheetah, give some more tension to the journey if she isn't always in full control

Am I the only one who though the golden armour looked ridiculous on film? It looked like a cheap CW costume to me.
