Last month, Wonder Woman 1984 landed a new August release date, and we're now left hoping that Patty Jenkins' DC Comics adaptation is able to meet that target. COVID-19 has caused chaos in Hollywood, and there's no guarantee that theaters will be open by the fall, let alone the summer!
There are still rumblings that they could re-open by July, but it's looking like it will be decided on a state by state basis in the US, and country by country elsewhere.
Promotion for the sequel is quietly continuing, though, and a new look at the Amazon Warrior is front and centre on this magazine cover for an upcoming issue of SFX. The marketing campaign for Wonder Woman 1984 has been excellent from a visual standpoint, and the hope now is that the movie itself will be just as impressive (there have been rumblings from test screenings to the contrary).
With any luck, we will get to watch it in theaters, because if they are indeed unable to re-open, it seems likely Warner Bros. will push it into 2020 rather than going for a VOD release.
