There was recently a controversy about Gal Gadot's Wonder Woman lacking armpit hair and now, there appears to be yet another controversy surrounding the Amazon Princess, but this time it's coming from male fans and men's rights activists. Wonder Woman is set to hit theaters next weekend and Alamo Drafthouse has announced that it will be hosting a women-only screening of the DC superheroine film on Tuesday, June 6, which is the week after its worldwide theatrical release. The majority of people have applauded the theater for their progressive decision, however a vocal minority of mostly male fans have expressed their extreme distaste for this one theater's decision.
Alamo Drafthouse has taken note of this controversy and has even responded to these dissenters. “The most iconic superheroine in comic book history finally has her own movie, and what better way to celebrate than with an all-female screening? Apologies, gentlemen, but we’re embracing our girl power and saying 'No Guys Allowed' for one special night at the Alamo Ritz. And when we say 'People Who Identify As Women Only,' we mean it. Everyone working at this screening -- venue staff, projectionist, and culinary team -- will be female. So lasso your geeky girlfriends together and grab your tickets to this celebration of one of the most enduring and inspiring characters ever created.”
This statement still didn't sit well with some male fans, including those that don't even live in the state or country. What do you think of this decision? What do you think of this controversy? Sound off below!
