In this first edition of 2019, we have a couple of rumors relating to Matt Reeve's ever-elusive The Batman, along with possible details on Steve Trevor's (Chris Pine) return in Wonder Woman 1984. There's also an update on the planned sequel to Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse, and the creepy first trailer for a new Irish horror movie called The Hold in the Ground.

Jon Bernthal And Vera Farmiga Join The Many Saints of Newark
We'll start with some news straight off the press, as THR reveals that the upcoming Sopranos prequel film The Many Saints of Newark has added a couple of big names to its cast. J
on Bernthal (The Punisher) and Vera Farmiga (Source Code) are in final talks to join the production, although no details on their characters are provided. Alessandro Nivola will play Dickey Moltisanti, the mentor of teenage Tony Soprano.
Specific plot details are still under wraps, but we do know that the film is "set in the era of the Newark riots in the '60s, when African-Americans and Italians of Newark were at each other's throats."
The Twilight Zone adds DeWanda Wise And Jessica Williams
More casting news here, this time from The Wrap. According to them, Jordan Peele’s upcoming reboot of classic horror/sci-fi series The Twilight Zone has gained a couple of new recruits to enter The Fifth Dimension.
DeWanda Wise (She's Gotta Have It) and Jessica Williams (2 Dope Queens) will star in an episode which will also feature Lucinda Dryzek, Jefferson White and Jonathan Whitesell.
Previously announced cast members include Steven Yeun, Greg Kinnear, John Cho, Allison Tolman, Jacob Tremblay, Sanaa Lathan, Adam Scott and Kumail Nanjiani.
Jack O'Connell Batman Rumor Resurfaces
While we all not-so patiently wait on official word from Warner Bros. relating to Ben Affleck's status as The Dark Knight and which actor could potentially replace him in the cape 'n cowl, a rumor from WGTC points to British actor Jack O’Connell (Starred Up, Godless, The Cradle) possibly being in line to suit-up as The Batman.
This isn't the first time we've heard the 29-year-old's name mentioned in connection with the role, so there might just be something to this. That said, the site has shared several "scoops" over the past few days and they've all been recycled from previous reports, so it's probably best to keep this at arm's length for the time being.
First Trailer For The Hole In The Ground
The Hole in the Ground us an upcoming Irish horror flick from director Lee Cronin which has been getting a lot of positive buzz ahead of its premiere at The Sundance Film Festival.
A Date For Mad Mary's Seána Kerslake stars as Sarah O’Neill, a young mother who's attempting to build a new life on the fringes of a backwood rural town with her son Chris (James Quinn Markey). A terrifying encounter with a mysterious neighbor shatters her fragile security, throwing Sarah into a spiraling nightmare of paranoia and mistrust, as she tries to uncover if the disturbing changes in her little boy are connected to an ominous sinkhole buried deep in the forest that borders their home.
The Hole In The Ground opens in the UK and Ireland on 1st March 2019.
Is This How Steve Trevor Will Return In Wonder Woman 1984?
We've heard lots of theories and a few rumors relating to Steve Trvor's (Chris Pine) return in Wonder Woman 1984, and WGTC has now elaborated on the events that lead to the deceased hero's resurrection.
According to them, Maxwell Lord (Pedro Pascal) will bring Steve back in order to get Diana on his side when archaeologist Barbara Ann Minerva (Kristen Wiig) seeks revenge after one of his magical artifacts transforms her into Cheetah.
Some of this does gel with what we've heard, but best to take it with the usual pinch of salt for now.
A New Look At Toy Story 4 Coming Soon
According to our friends at Trailer Track, we should be getting a new look at Disney-Pixar's Toy Story 4 pretty soon.
What appears to be a new teaser for the animated sequel has been rated today by Alberta Film Ratings and Consumer Protection BC, clocking in at just over one and a half minutes. We're not sure if it'll actually be a full theatrical trailer or one of those "special looks" that sometimes air on TV, but hopefully we'll find out more soon.
Once Upon A Deadpool Granted A Release In China
The PG-13 cut of Deadpool 2 has been granted a release in China.
The original, R-rated theatrical version and its 2016 predecessor were deemed too bloody and raunchy for The Middle Kingdom, but Once Upon a Deadpool was passed uncut and will premiere on January 25.

New Punisher Season 2 Motion Poster
As the premiere date for the second season of Marvel and Netflix's The Punisher draws near, we have the first in what will likely be a series of motion posters spotlight the main characters.
This one gives us another look at Frank's new sidekick Amy Bendix (Giorgia Whigham), although it looks like that's not the only name she's gone by in the past.
Adam McKay Says There Has Been Some Silver Surfer Discussion
Kevin Feige recently revealed that he'd be open to discussing a potential Silver Surfer movie with Adam McKay, and the Vice director has now suggested that those talks may have already taken place.
Mckay was quizzed about the possibility of helming a new movie based on the Sentinel of the Spaceways by MTV News on the red carpet of The Golden Globes.
New Glass Clip
Finally, we have a new clip from M. Night Shyamalan's Glass, which hits theaters this weekend.
The movie has been getting a fairly sound bashing from critics, but it's really not as bad as the majority of them are making out, and the following sneak peek spotlights one particularly great moment.
Be warned, though, this counts as a bit of a SPOILER.
