This may very well be one for the record books!

Spin Master Games and CMON have announced that Marvel United: X-Men, their new Kickstarter board game, is not only live, but that it fully funded its $300K goal within 10 minutes of the campaign launching! Marvel United: X-Men has raised over $1.6 million as of my writing this, and we're sure it will earn significantly more judging by the success of Marvel United and due in part to the amazing value backers will receive, even at the core box pledged, which is going for $65 US.

I know that I was eager to back it as soon as it went live, especially after having spent the weekend playing the earlier Marvel United, which I had backed last year. The quality of the figures and the mechanics of the game make it relatively easy to play and a lot of fun for both adults and the kiddos.

The $65 "Mutant Pledge" includes the core game, an exclusive villain team including Toad, Pyro, and Blob as well as all applicable stretch goals.

The $100 Apocalypse Pledge, which I highly recommend, costs $100 and includes everything from the "Mutant Pledge", plus The Horsemen of Apocalypse expansion, and a mohawk-wearing Storm.

Those that missed out on the Marvel United Kickstarter are also in luck, as the "Ultimate Classic Bundle" is available with all of the exclusives for $220.

Check out the video below, and if you're interested in backing, head over to their Kickstarter campaign (CLICK HERE). With all sorts of promotions and add-ons (they announced an X-Men: First Class optimal buy for $30 just a few hours ago), the campaign is sure to keep growing. I have six boxes from the "All In" Marvel: United campaign that I haven't even opened yet!

Marvel United is back, bringing the X-Men into this acclaimed fast-paced cooperative game. Build your team of mutant Heroes and join forces to thwart the master plan of the most powerful Villains in the universe. Now you can also choose to take direct control of a Super Villain, facing off against the other united Super Hero players!

Simple rules, deep strategy, easy setup, quick playtime, variable difficulty, eye-catching artwork, and amazing character pieces, all united to bring you the most engaging Marvel play experience!

What do you think? Have you seen or played Marvel United yet? Sound off in the comments below!

Is Disney allowing the Marvel license out to just anyone? I never understood how the first one went on Kickstarter without any Disney support considering it's a licensed product.

@SonOfAGif - maybe they're not allowed to profit of it? I can see the money going to making the game and everyone who invested getting a copy. But I don't think it'll hit shelves like a typical game

It's a shame what has become of Kickstarter. Corporately sanctioned products are pushed out to be funded by the fans while this should have been for artists trying to finance their projects, not companies.
I get that it's licensed but if there's already a license attached and bought production of the project could have been handled by Disney.
It all started when Warner made the Veronica Mars movie campaign. The movie was great but could have been funded by WB as well.

Disney should be ashamed of themselves

@BackwardGalaxy - Why? This is part of the way a lot of tabletop game companies function.

No Disney-related project should end up on a crowdfunding platform.

I could be wrong about how these things work but billion dollar Corporations getting crowd funded is pathetic.

@billnye69 - This is the way CMON does this, unfortunately. You can always get their games from standard retailers, but they make most of their money from Kickstarter and Kickstarter exclusive items.

I backed and got the first one. Simple yet fantastic game. You can pick up the base game on Amazon or Wal-Mart or wherever.

CMON, the publisher, is notorious for putting their games on Kickstarter, and they make bank. By doing it that way, they put out a lot of Kickstarter exclusive items that you can’t get outside the campaign (which can kinda suck). Anyway, I highly recommend you jump on this. The game is great, and this one is full of X-Men goodness.

@Benjamitesandwich - I'm glad to find someone else that likes the game! I've been playing it solo because I want to make sure I have the rules down before inviting others... They tend to get annoyed if I have to keep referring to the rulebook :P

I thought it was an odd choice with Marvel United, and was along the lines of a lot of some of the other users (what @$$holes, etc.), but it makes sense. Kickstarter has LOTs of eyeballs and backers, plus I love the exclusives.

@NateBest - I’ve really enjoyed it so far. CMON’s games usually tend to lean toward the heavier side, but I’ve loved the simplicity and plug-and-play aspect of all the characters. It’s pretty accessible to everyone I’ve played it with so far.

WTF Alfred Molina confirmed himself to be in No Way Home! He really doesn't give a damn about the marvel snipers!
